Will Gephardt endorse a candidate?
If so, who and when? If not, why not?

1. My gut tells me Edwards
I don't have a real reason. Gep is the working man's candidate and I think Edwards naturally fills that role.

2. I'm going to take a guess
that he will endorse Kerry, just because guessing is free.

3. He Will, I Don't Think He Will Right Away, Though
I'd bet he will endorse someone, but probably not right away.

Definitely before the Missouri primaries, though.

I think we can safely eliminate Dean from the list of endorsements, though I would have laughed at anyone who told me that Kucinich would be backing Edwards in caucuses where he didn't have the supporters to make the 15%.

5. My guess is no.
Why not? I hate to put it in such crude terms but, what's in it for him? He's retiring so he's got no reason to play 'the game'. For this reason, if he were to endorse, I'd say it would be a very sincere endorsement.
