It feels good to be a Democrat!
The only reason this is such a tight race is because we have four or five very viable candidates. I never understood why Kerry and Edwards weren't doing better, and as an admirer of Howard Dean's, I always thought he'd be a better candidate if he had to fight for the nomination.

Bottom line: It's the strongest Democratic field we've had in decades, and I think Iowa shows it. All we know now is that this is anyone's game. I, for one, am glad we've got a real fight on our hands because it's going to make the eventual nominee that much stronger.

The real winner tonight is the Democratic party!

1. At the very least, for the election process and Democracy.
The fact that there were twice as many people at the caucuses is a great sight. It is a very long process, compared to voting. It shows a genuinely motivated public. This should be a great election.

5. Caucus voting is not bad at all
People did not let the media sway them. They made their own decisions.

The big loser tonight was the media.

3. I agree
I go to bed a happy boy tonight. The Democrat's are much better now that we've gone through Iowa. Dean made Kerry and Edwards much better candidates.

I think the Republicans are going to regret at least having some token primary resistance against Bush to sharpen the Bush campaign staff.

10. Totally agree. As a longtime Dean backer I'm happy for Kerry and Edwards
I think they'd make a great ticket together. Dean had something important to say, and America heard it. Whether he gets the nomination or the White House or not, his run has been a good thing for the country.

If Kerry hadn't signed the stupid IWR, I would have been with him from the beginning. I was amazed at how UN-disappointed I was at Dean's loss. I'm going to play it by ear for the next few weeks and think about who to support.

I did expect a stronger showing for Clark, though....
