I finally saw the Dean speech, and I think it says something powerful and scary.
Looking at it as a noncomitted person, I did not think it was that bad. it was obviously a pep speech, and it did not appear strident at all. Dean was even laughing in it.
Now, there in is the problem for Dean, and for all the Dems. If you are predisposed to thinking Dean is over the top and angry, then I can see how that speech would come across as strident. The fact that the Dean is angry meme has not been blunted talks to the power of the media and Dean's inability, so far, to counter that power. The fact that Kerry called Bush inept and arrogant and is not being discussed as angry says a lot, I think.
This will happen to every front runner. If Dean is not able to change that perception, if any candidate is not able o counter those types of pigeon-holing, then we are better off without them as the candidate.
