I'm just now watching the DVD "Outfoxed" about Fox and Murdoch
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 04:14 PM by Bouncy Ball
and OH MY GOD. I knew it was bad, but DAMN. I also didn't know how far back this stuff went. They were ordering them to run tributes to Reagan during the RNC back in the 80s when he was running for reelection and the people working there at the time were like "WHAT? That's not news, that's not what we do!" and it went downhill from there.

I wouldn't have believed the state of the media in this country was actually worse than I previously thought, but it is. Far worse.

Makes our decision to cut off satellite service (and no cable) all the better. There's no way I'll take part in government propaganda disguised as "news" killing the fourth estate.

Disgusting. If you haven't watched "Outfoxed" rent it, watch it. I found it at my local Blockbuster (red state). The memos from Fox to the reporters about what to talk about each day are CHILLING. They ordered reporters and producers not to show all of Kerry's speeches and/or to leave out parts referring to the war in Iraq.

They are evil, PURE evil. Journalism does not exist at Fox and I feel it has infected the other "networks" as well. Oh this is making my blood boil.

3. I'm about fifteen minutes into the DVD and it actually gets WORSE
Dear God. Why is anyone here watching Fox at ALL? This is not a matter of knowing your enemy, those people are totally un-American, wanting to shut down free speech and dissenting points of view. My God. I think this is a bit more shocking to me because I haven't watched Fox um.....in over a year or more. And then only because of it being on in a doctor's waiting room.

4. Great documentary
I saw it in theaters after a local viewing outgrew its space. Like you, I knew Fox was bad but I was amazed at just how illegitimate it is as a "news" organization. It should only be called Fox State Television.

5. Honestly I think I'm going to have to turn this off.
I ate a late lunch and am actually feeling sick to my stomach. "Some people say" seems to be FUX's favorite phrase. I can't handle all the clips of these asswipes. Colmes should be strung up by his balls for even working for Fux. How much you wanna bet he voted for bush?

Gad. Where's the stop button? I'll see how much more I can take.

6. Yep that's it.
I got to the part about character assassination (Richard Clarke especially) and I can't watch this anymore.

If Fox news had been so stridently in favor of the Clinton administration, so completely protective of him, attacking anyone who dared to speak out against him, there would have been a third term for Clinton, I swear.

7. The worst part is
the effect they have on the rest of the media. If it was just them it would be OK, but they influence everyone.

10. Yep
I see all this stuff they are talking about in the DVD happening on the other networks (or I did before I stopped watching all of it).

11. I used to watch Fox a lot during the Clinton administration
and couldn't believe how they were negative all the time on him and his people (I often wondered why this was the case). They did a complete switch after Bush* stole the election in 2000 and I then realized what the deal was. They were so obvious. Fair and balanced my ASS!

And yes, I saw the docu Outfoxed. I shook my head a lot while watching that. Unbelievable.

12. Well I tip my hat to anyone
who could get through the whole "Outfoxed" DVD. I like what the producers of Outfoxed are doing, I just can't take all the Fox clips.

I'll try to finish it this evening, I can only take this in small doses.

I turned it off right before reading your post Amanda. It was right after the Jeremy Glick stuff. I feel like I have to take a shower after seeing and hearing that total scumbag O'Lielly.

Ok I'll try, but whew.

prepared enough to be able to stand watching it. :puke:

Thankfully, I've NEVER watched Faux, and never will.

15. Unfortunately, the antics started during the first Gulf War
I had been working at a CBS affiliate during the first Gulf War and did see firsthand how journalism in the real sense died.

The first real deception did start around Reagan's time, but that war was run by the Pentagon and all the media channels lapped it up like mangy junkyard dogs.

Faux Snooze just took it to the next level.

I bought a DVD copy of "Outfoxed" and gave it to my local library...that's how badly I think people need to see this documentary.

17. And it's not just FOX, it's ALL of the news shows.
Care to take a guess what the vote would have been if ALL the media was forced to tell just the facts on all their news programs?
