I've waited for someone to mentions this about Fox News
but haven't seen it yet.

A friend of mine called me to ask if I've seen Fox's Christmas message on the air - and of course I hadn't cause to me the station doesn't exist.

So she had me turn it on and it seems that it comes once an hour on the half hour break.

My friend was right when she noted that it was "in your face" religious - with quoted scripture to boot. The one I saw wasn't the one she referred to so it seems there are a few that are rotated.

Obviously it caters to religious right and is an open message to all viewers. Personally speaking I don't care but I did see her point and agreed that those spots went way beyond any other station's Christmas/holiday message to their viewers.

However, with Hannity's tirade about schools removing Christmas and now even Santa (which I think is insane), I can see how this serves to further divide the "red" and the "blue" which is never a good thing and dangerous when carried to the extreme.

2. my favorite is ChristmaHannaKwaanzika
what's wrong with Christmas messages? You know that Fox blows so don't watch it.

I grew up in a conservative Republican community and was furious when the Republicans didn't allow any religious symbols (like angels) or mention of Christmas in government or school buildings. They only allowed Happy Holidays and secular symbols.

Democrats are supposed to support first amendment rights.

3. FOX must be the only ones doing it because
I posted a message earlier today that the rest of the tv stations were going to great lengths to NOT use the word Christmas but they are substituting the word, "holiday" in its place. It was so bad this morning that some of the news hosts were stopping and correcting themselves for saying the wrong word.

To show that I am not crazy, then I went and bouht the newspaper. The editorial was headed, "What's next, FESTIVUS?" and went on to talk about how the word "Christmas" was being deleted from all stores and newscasts here in NYC. The owner of the News is Jewish I believe, so the argument that this is a Jewish-motivated strategy doesn't quite hold water here. Macy's responded by saying they had no inention of replacing the word "holiday" with the word, "Christmas."

4. They're catering to their viewers
Which seems like a smart thing to do, I guess. CNN was quoting the bible a few weeks ago during the locust outbreak.

5. Hannity
If, as I presume, Hannity is a practicing Catholic living in the NY/NJ/Ct (BLUE STATES)area he should WELL know that this area has a very large JEWISH population (among MANY other religious groups)in the public school system. They do NOT celebrate Christmas or Santa Claus (SAINT Nicholas). Where I live, the breakdown is probably almost 50-50. The man wants to SNUB ALMOST HALF THE POPULATION? He may be pandering to the Bible Belt viewing audience, but the ENTIRE country isn't like that and those of us who in heterogeneous areas (again, the BLUE STATES) MUST respect the rights and wishes of others.
