Is this anti-deanunderground?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 10:49 PM by poskonig
I turned on CNN and I see Dean smiling and having fun. Meanwhile I see posts here about how rabid and "maniacal" Dean looks. I've also seen several insulting polls about who Dean supporter's second choice is going to be.

Can't we show some respect! Please? Pretty-Please, with a cherry on top??

:pals:

And Dean has a good shot at it, this is far from over. But Dean will be a factor and a target, that's the ugly reality of politics.

Cheers to the Dean folks, keep fighting! :toast:

All we've heard is, "Dean is the front runner and Clark is a poser." The buckshot goes both ways... thank God our candidate isn't as thin-skinned as some of his supporters (present company often included).

36. You would be welcome supporting the only one with the money to
actually counter the ads Bush will be running against him. But hey, it seems like the all important ability to raise money is to be shunned now. Those of us Dean supporters getting raked over the coals on this site daily are the source of that money, and I highly doubt we'll be opening our wallets to those who feel compelled to get in as many digs and insults as they can. I know I won't. Dean, I will donate to, but no one else.

5. Thank you
As a Dean supporter, I'm starting to feel like I looked up from my keyboard and found that all the other Dean supporters had gone away. In their place, there are lots of rabid Dean-hating people. I don't get it. I'm not naive enough to think supporters of other candidates are going to switch to Dean, but I am surprised at the level of vitriol, especially from one particular camp.

Congratulations to you on the Kerry win tonight. I think he's a fine candidate.

Ever since the hostile take over by a group of viciously anti-Dean supporters of another candidate.

Most of Dean's supporters who used to post have gone to other forums.

Given what I have seen tonight, I shall soon join them.

What a vomitous place this has become.

I am happy for your candidate, Sen. Kerry, however.

A real Democrat, and a tough campaigner.

Good work by Edwards too.

Congrats to all.

51. Clark is outside the pale
I am going to write my state party leadership tonight and let them know that, based on my interaction with the Clark campaign (which they are supporting to the last aparatchik) the I will be out:

1) to put another candidate on teh ballot in North Dakota.

2) to kick their sorry asses out of the Kennedy Center in Bismark.

My vote is transferable. But I've said I've vote the CPUSA before I'd vote for Lieberman. Add Clark to that list.

His supporters are delusional. They will take a man who was out fund raising for Bush* et al a short while ago and decide his is the best ABB candidate.

If the Clark campaign continues in this vein through N.H., then ABB is dead.

and I don't like all the Kucinich supporters. However, the actions of the some Dean and Clark supporters have poisioned the views of many against them, and the reaction tonight is indicative of that fair or un.

My many pro-Dean friends (you included) allow me not to do that, but for all those months of Dean is the front-runner, Dean will win, and some (more than one) saying they were taking names of anti-dean posters for a reckoning after the nomination. That kind of thing leads to a backlash sometimes

Once again, Iowa confounds the nation with its choices. I mean, who would have predicted a 2nd place finish from Edwards a two months ago? Or a Kerry victory? Or Geph finishing fourth?

What a great time to be a political junkie, but what a BETTER time to be a DEMOCRAT! After tonight, I feel a hell of a lot better supporting ANY of these folks come November.

Congrats to Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Gephardt and Kucinich. Onward!

I said your view of how Dean is treated on this forum is myopic. He isn't alone, and his camp is in no position to claim that they have been singled out. I remember when they ruled this forum and you could barely make a frowny face in Dean's direction without being ganged up on. If a bit of flames on a internet board after a loss is that upsetting, then don't come to DU during the primaries, because it's pretty clear that there is a lot of hostility from all sides on this site. Nobody is going to get off without some bruising. I won't whine about it if Clark gets clobbered in NH. If I find it too provoking, I'll just log off.

I'd gladly join you in responding
...if you'd care to point out some. I've been trying to do that wherever I see it. I've weighed in on a couple of threads that seemed to be going over the line, but it was nothing worse than I've seen aimed at other candidates over the last few weeks, and I've seen plenty of it from self-identified Dean supporters.

My view is that Dean supporters are bound to be feeling pretty raw at the moment, though, which may heighten the sensitivity. If so, all the more reason to disavow this crap--there are few things more dishonorable than gloating over someone else's distress. It's ungenerous, ugly, and what's worse, stupid. The race is far from over, and we all may be working our asses off for Dean come November.

69. You're totally right.
I've been lacing into Kerry and Edwards hard. I think it's the right thing to do at this point.

53. Well, they've done it now, so screw them
Screw Clark and his supporters.

ABC all the way.

I doubt he would even get my vote now.

You guys are pathetic.

54. No, it's just some sophomoric fools gloating and rubbing salt in the wound
They are the same idiots that do it normally, so don't sweat the small stuff. Dr. Dean has run an amazing campaign, and it is FAR from being over. He was, is and will continue to be a formidable opponent!

Good luck to you and yours, and on to NH and on to the White House in November!

:hi:

57. I have tried to defend Dean on many different posts
Most of them never got a response. Oh well, so much for being civil.

77. Candidates should stand or fall on their own merits
Call me silly, but isn't that what it's really all about?

I don't like unfair attacks, I signed on Dean's website about the attack ads that came from the unknown group that seemed to be tied to Gephardt.

79. From the Blog...
about Dean...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I was just remembering a piece of history that may resonate for some of you. In December of 1777, Washington's troops at Valley Forge were hungry, cold, ragged, and cramped. "An army of skeletons appeared before our eyes naked, starved, sick and discouraged," wrote New York's Gouverneur Morris of the Continental Congress. The Marquis de Lafayette wrote: "The unfortunate soldiers were in want of everything; they had neither coats nor hats, nor shirts, nor shoes. Their feet and their legs froze until they were black, and it was often necessary to amputate them."
Six months later they were a disciplined, self-confident, and dignified legion.
Let's all remember that Revolutions don't happen easily or overnight. And none of us is naked, frozen or starving. We march on, we march on, and we don't stop until we win.
