Did Dean predict this three years ago?
Oh man, I'm gonna get flamed for this...

Dean's now-infamous caucus commentary:

If you look at the caucuses system, they are dominated by special interests on both sides and both parties. Special interests don't represent the centrist tendencies of the American people...

Which appears to be the case tonight, with the Beltway usual suspects in a runaway win...

Of course, that analysis leaves out the distinct possibility that Dean's "outsider voter" push did not work in a state as politically stilted as Iowa. That was probably a miscalculation.

That said, I am hoping for a huge vindication for Dean once we get to some actual primaries. We will see.

In the meantime, congratulations, Kerrylovers. And don't worry: If Kerry really wins the nomination, this is one Dean supporter who is completely "transferable." I can't wait to get this settled, so we can all get on with the real Battle of 2004.

2. You wont get flamed from me***
Perhaps the truth is all too prophetic. I sadly feel that our own party is confronting the issue of those who want to play it safe, versus those who truly know what it will take to save the country. It will take more than mediocrity. It will take passion and commitment. So far, I have not seen that ignited with the two front runners tonight, as much as I LIKE them both. Liking someone does not define a person as a leader.

Yes, Howard Dean, was right back then. I hope he will return to that truth. Because it is that truth that will bring back America.

I myself have not committed to voting for what I find to be an establishment candidate. I have a hard time rewarding someone who has been part of allowing us to get to the situation that we now face.

Whatever the case and whatever the outcome, thanks for posting.

3. i empathize.
but after many posts expressing my contempt for these democrats who spent much of the last three years appeasing this administration instead of fighting it, i have come to the realization that we will not get a perfect candidate. it's not a perfect world.

and for all of his faults, that was one hell of a great speech by kerry last night. no democrat could listen to it and not be inspired.
