What constitutes lying?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 10:55 AM by hangloose
Well, either making an untrue statement with intent to deceive, or deliberately creating a false impression.

So lets stop pussy footing around and call a spade and spade the Bush administration are a band of lier's. Iraq was not about bad Intel it was about deception. Pure and simple. Has this not been prov en beyond a shadow of any doubt? Does anyone out there feel otherwise?

So Bush is a lier, Powell is a lier, Rice is a lier, Tenet is a lier, Rumsfeld is a lier, etc, etc............

Have they no shame and the longer they hold office the longer we share in the shame of untruth. I am not a purest, people lie and get away with it all the time, I have lied. But who, if not us will call them on it. If we allow them to play this game without consequence we ourselves are lying, by accepting dishonesty as an acceptable course in public life, regardless of the consequences. So let's stop being dishonest with ourselves and call them out for breaking the public trust. We cannot allow them to skate by and lie another day.

1. Speaking of "values"
A standard values clarification question is..."Is it ever OK to lie?" And if our "leaders" are teaching "values" by their actions, the answer to the question must be yes...is always OK to lie! Is this an example of the "values" the repubs are always spouting?

2. intent to deceive, whether by commission or omission.
bush is a huge liar. bush has ALWAYS been a huge liar. bush will ALWAYS be a huge liar.

bush lies. A lot.

No sidewalk in the world lies like bush.

As bush said to McCain re his lies about McCain; "It's just politics".

bush is a big huge whopping-arse liar. And that's a simple proven (many times over) fact.

3. Definition correct, but sadly we may
have to depend upon the corporate media to start the ball rolling in calling every lie exactly what it is, i.e. to be effective.
What good would that do them every two years when the campaign funds start being used as ad money? The people we should depend upon to tell us the truth (about lying) are complicit in the larger scheme. They're not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
...O...
