Let's stop fighting.
Please. It's not doing anything useful, whether you think the election was stolen, that it wasn't stolen, that the Democrats need to move to the left, that the Democrats need to move to the right, that we need to be more religious, that we don't need to, or whatever you believe to be a winning issue, all the infighting is tiresome and self-destructive. Sign on if you agree.

20. Divide and Conquer- it is their MO.
As long as we hate each other (and not even on DU- I mean everyone) then Big Brother can trample us unhindered. We are too busy worrying about our neighbor and don't see the Big Picture. That is their plan. They are very good at it. Don't be duped!!!

(I just finished 1984- and damn I am fired up!!!)

4. We need to fight Eunuch DEM "leaders" who refuse to tell the truth...
...about George Bush's lying, criminal, un-Christian corruption and the media who lies for them.

Until those fools at the top get their shit together, it does not matter what "we" do.

They dont LISTEN to "us"- they only care about what Judy Woodruff and "swing voters" think.

6. Let's also be honest with ourselves.
We all know we're still going to have people like that even if we become the majority party for the next 100 years, so unless we want to deal without any leadership, a few of our leaders are going to be like that.

8. Republicans have absolutely NO problem telling their version of "truth"
I disagree with you.

Who on the Republican side minces their words? No one.

If they think Clinton and gore are "liars" they say so.

If they think Kerry is a "traitor who faked his medals" and a "flip flopper" who "looks french"-they say so.

If they think Max Cleland is "like Saddam & Osama" and "Unpatriotic"-they say so.

Dont give me anymore excuses- If the GOP can tell lies about us and do it lock-step, then we can tell the TRUTH about them, and do it lock step.

Its not rocket-science- its just calling a spade a spade.

If we're going to throw off those "leaders", then
we're going to have to do it, as you say, in lock step. If we're all fighting with each other, we won't be able to get any new leadership, much less win against the Rethugs. That was kinda my point.

11. I'm with you. Its not the ground troops that are the problem...
...you are soo right. I dont know why I'm being so antagonistic...

The folks on the ground doing the work-the DU types & local party types are the good guys...I'm sick of the leaders so I'm lashing out I guess...

JEEZE I'm so frustrated...

5. I do not see the discussion on this board a fight
as much as a healthy dialogue. Change requires discussion.

7. What I've been seeing on this board is
a witch hunt. Especially with the voter fraud people, who call "Freeper!" anytime someone says anything on this board that dosn't have to do with uncovering voter fraud.

9. Maybe, we need to add a "Catbert836" rule to the posting regulations
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 10:27 PM by Mirwib
The first person to yell "freeper" loses and admits the other person wins the debate.

Calling someone else a name usually admits that the person has run out of logical arguments.

13. I agree. This long weekend seems to have done something to the posters.
It doesn't seem to matter which forum I've been in, or what the subject matter is, but a lot of people seem to be in a VERY foul mood. I normally spend more hours than I want to admit to myself, reading my way through a lot of the forums. This weekend I've turned the computer off a lot faster than usual. And it's because it's been so :nuke: in here. I'm hoping everyone will settle down and play nice again. I mean, we can disagree, but do we have to be mean and attack others in the process? I hope the answer to that one is NO.
:)

14. I also agree...
this fighting within the ranks of democrats on here has to stop.I'm stuck in between a liberal and moderate democrat label and I feel REALLY out of place sometimes because of the continue fighting. Democrats have to unite, not fight, because the fighting will only help the freepers win more elections...we need to support the party.

15. Regrettably, you must now be destroyed
All peacemakers meet that end at some point.

Buck up; things will be better. Just remember that there's an ebb and flow on this board, and everyone's in shock and dismay right now.

People have actually been much more honorable than I'd have thought. There were less recriminations of Kerry and Edwards, and less bromide from Deanies, Clarkies and others who came out with an even shorter end of the stick. For this, I'm proud of the many with whom I've tussled.

Truly, it's been the season of dashed hopes and broken dreams, and for the most part, we're pulling together.

Just ignore posts that bug you--after you at least take note of them--and press on.

We have two major problems: the broad co-opting of the press, and that infernal unverifiable voting. What damage may be done before people come to their senses is terrifying to contemplate, but scary as it is, we must face it.

Personally, I'd say that people have been less combative than I've ever have expected, so take that for what it's worth.

21. I'm fine with that idea myself the only problem I have is....
.....the way everyone attacks each others canidates. Everyone here had a favorite canidate that they supported and they still feel strongly about their canidate. All the canidates should be respected and not people trashing them, name calling and all the nasty remarks that are being made. When someone trashes your canidate you can't expect them not to retaliate. And all this well my canidate was better than yours, if my canidate was running we would have won, my canidate isn't a quitter, this one cheated in the primaries, this canidate has all this baggage and it would have been brought out, this canidate is to liberal, this canidate is to moderate, this canidate is to consevative, This canidate didn't do this right and my canidate would have, the supporters of this canidate are wacky, the supporters of this canidate are sore losers, Ect. Hell this list goes on and on, and until all this stops the fighting will never stop. Because as I said everyone had a favorite and for most that hasn't changed. None of these canidates deserve the disrepect that is displayed on this board everyday but the fact of the matter is when someone does it the supporters of that canidate will fight back.

23. SCREW YOU!
Kidding, kidding!

I agree that bitter acrimony is worse than useless, but a certain amount of fighting is to be expected - after all, we're concerned with life-and-death situations, so there are bound to be passionate views that clash.

It's made all the more difficult when certain views are misinformed, be it by intention or simple ignorance.

My advice: don't expect the fighting to end. It won't. Perhaps we can all make it more productive, and hone it into debate rather than backbiting, but we're all only human, right?

I admire that desire, though. Good thoughts.
