DFA and PDA Launch "DNC Listening Tours" in Minnesota!
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 01:29 PM by dpbrown
Hi Friends of DFA and PDA,

Recently, at one of our MN Progressive Caucus meetings, a former Dean supporter that we are working with came up with a wonderful idea to sponsor a "Listening Tour," whereby our MN representatives to the DNC would listen to the grassroots in terms of what we would like to see in our new DNC Chair.  We are actually co-sponsoring four meetings throughout the state with the DFL State Party, which is very exciting.  I am including our invitation that has gone out to many DFL listserves below.  If this seems like a way for the grassroots to have some impact on the selection of our next Party Chair in your opinion, can DFA and PDA please pass on the idea to other states?  We would love to hear about Listening Tours going on all across the country!  Our leadership needs to know that we are the Party, and we will hold our leadership accountable.  Many progressives jumped on board for Kerry, worked like crazy, turned out the vote.....and still.........  As we know, it's not only about tactics, it's about vision.  We know progressives can lead in this area, as we have the vision to create an oppositional, relevant Democratic Party.

Peace,
Donna Cassutt

In February the Democratic National Committee - the governing body that formulates the vision, determines the strategy for delivering our message, and sets the overall tone of the national Democratic Party - will be electing a new Chair to lead the Party. The Chair is responsible for communicating that vision and the collective values of the national Party.  Many of us have ideas about how we would like to be represented, and here is our opportunity to be heard.  In Minnesota we have six voting members of the DNC and in true Minnesota fashion they want to hear from the grassroots!

In an unprecedented event co-sponsored by the MN DFL and the MN Progressive Caucus, our DNC representatives will meet with everyday DFLers to find out where we want our party leadership to take us as we move forward.

Come share your thoughts!

Please join us for the first of four Listening Meetings:

Friday, December 3, 2004 6 PM
Carpenter's Union Hall
700 Olive Street
St Paul, MN  55101

Locations of three additional meetings on the Listening Tour to be held in various locations throughout Minnesota are to be announced.

We look forward to seeing you!
