DUers: It's time to support those who supported us in the election!
Since the election didn't go our way, I simply did not want to think about it for awhile. Although I'm not certain of the precise definition of "awhile", I know that I feel the need to start doing something again. Besides, Canada's too damn cold. So I want to encourage people to show those who stuck their necks out, we appreciate them. Now, to clarify, I am not a fan of this big consumeristic holiday thing, but most of us will be buying something for someone during the next month.

A good place to start would be to support the "Vote for Change" participants. If everyone of us bought one CD from any of the groups, that should help somewhat. I personally intend to support Madonna, because she stuck her neck out real early by supporting Clark in the primaries, and I think that took a lot of guts; and I haven't heard "Material Girl" or "Lucky Star" in maybe 10 years. :silly:

We could go even further by supporting companies that supported us too! It would be great, if we could work on listing the artists and companies. Now I do like the idea of boycotting, and I think we got Sinclair's attention, or at least the advertisers, but that won't help our supporters. Just ask the Dixie Chicks.

2. The problem with that list...
is if you look closely you see the same names on both lists. This is known as hedging your bets and is a well-known political strategy, but I don't know where it leaves me as a consumer. Do I go by percentage? If you gave more to the dems than the pukes? Don't know how I feel about it.

3. Avoid companies that give predominantly to Republicans
Patronize the ones that give predominantly to Dems as much as possible.

And let them know why they are getting your business.

Where its a toss-up, figure you are doing no more harm than good.

4. Good point, but . .
usually there is a big disparity, and you could always just support those who support dems only.

5. Funny, Open Secrets tells a vastly different story about most of them.
I don't know what to make of that, but they don't jibe at all.

6. Bad link?
It works if you open a new window and type it in--your link has the DU reference in it, and it ends up dead.

Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 12:25 PM by insane_cratic_gal
I tend to do my grocery shopping there.. I hate it but they are cheaper.

81 percent to the reps?? ughh I can manage to pay a little more at the local shop if it avoid giving my money to a rep party.

the one problem I have is it states foxnews corp donated more money to the dems?? wth is that about?

wanting Kerry to win so they have more news footage of the reps freaking out over it?
