People are registering as voters as they come in. How do we know if they are not Republicans?

23. On NPR today, the Gov. of Iowa said
They verify identity and address. The person can change from Republican to Democrat and participate. However, past experience has shown that usually when people do that, they do not change back into the other party. In other words, if you can believe him, most are sincere.

6. Its the law but it makes everything suspect
which is probably what Giuliani, Frist and Matalin had in mind when they bought their tickets to come up here.

On the other hand, there most likely aren't a hell of a lot of GOPers who're going to go out in the cold just to freep the caucus.

We'll see.

29. Dean's going to win anyway, so if the Pukes want to help him
I guess the jokes on them.

Nah, the Pukes would probably vote Sharpton or Kucinich if they wanted the "disruptor" vote.

Would you be willing to leave home on Monday night in freezing weather to spend three hours with Republicans arguing about the relative merits of their potential candidates? I'd lose my lunch by 6:30pm.

25. people at caucus live in the SAME NEIGHBORHOOD
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 08:06 PM by bobbieinok
There's someone there who knows the new people - and if Sally, a long time republican, is really sincere.

My caucus from 76 to 88 usually had between 100-200 people; we met in the high school cafeteria.

I didn't know everyone there, but everyone was known by someone.

The IA democratic party is very well organized; if they think they have a problem, they've got safeguards and procedures.
