I'm a bit worried about a new terrorist attack now that * is still in
I am not living in fear or anything, I'm not a bush voter, after all. And I honestly don't think anything will happen here (I'm in a red state) unless it's that huge chemical plant and port in Houston, but lately I've been wondering when the other shoe will drop.

I mean, after all, OBL is still out there, on the loose, looking good, making videos, going to dinner parties. Not caught, not dead.

And bush has managed to piss off most of the rest of the world and hit the hornet's nest that is Iraq with a big stick repeatedly (and still is).

Urg. What's next? And IF that happens, are the Scaredy Ones who voted for * thinking he would keep them safe going to see the light and realize he HASN'T????

(Ports still aren't secure, not by a long shot, 10% of cargo inspected, not enough money for first responders, etc.)

1. Probably
I think that's fairly likely now, and this time I think it probably will be in a 'red' state.

22. Why I say that.
Sorry, I say that because all the evidence to date suggests that the 'terrorists' by whatever label, watch the news and pay attention to where their real enemies are. Australia joined the US in Iraq, Australians were bombed in Bali, Spain joined the US in Iraq, spain was bombed in Madrid, my guess (and don't worry it's only a guess) is that if Al Queda or another group is planning a strike against the US it will be in one of Bush's strongholds of power and not in one of the places that voted heavily against him.

They got the "cowardly vote" already.

3. Iraq has only intensified Muslim hostility
I was living in Bali, Indonesia when it started. I lost my gallery in the bombing of 12 Oct. There was a lot of anti-American sentiment. In fact, in Jakarta, Indonesians were signing up to go fight for the Iraqi people if Bush invaded. They were loading up by the busloads. It was all over the news there.

9. Have you seen the newest issue of Time?
I only saw the cover in the doctor's office, but apparently they are thinking a bunch of Iranians have been crossing over into Iraq for quite some time and fighting the US there.

Of course that could also be *'s way of preparing us for air strikes on Iran, God help us.

But I can see it being plausible that plenty of other countries have had people stream over those unsecured borders to fight the US there.

21. I live in Paris now so, no
However, the news I do get, is many times more detailed and unslanted than when I am home in San Diego. I have lived abroad since 2001, just after 9/11 and my eyes have been opened since then. I never realized the extent of the propaganda power of our media prior to my departure. I have awakened...

20. Bush needs Al Quaida
to continue his war machine. That's why he's never maintained his focus. As long as OSB exists, so does the threat.

5. I have more fear of this now than I did anytime before Nov 2
These people can not protect us. And by the election, their agenda was validated and al quada sees it that way.

7. See that's exactly what I am worried about
the rest of the world thinks we validated his dangerous bullshit.

Thus they will act accordingly?

11. Schumer has been focusing on ports and cargo
but I wish he would also have the guts to tell it like it is. Ports and cargo haven't been a focus in the "war on terror" because the administration values corporate interests above peoples lives.

18. Recently in our port of Wilmington NC
two foreign ship crews men from a Mid Eastern country (Yemen--i think) were declared missing from the boat. One of the bodies turned up dead found on the Cape Fear River bank. The theory was that he jumped ship and was killed by the mechanics of the boat. The other-to my knowledge- was never found. I don't recall ever hearing about it on national news. It makes me wonder what is going on in other places that we never hear about.

I'm pretty sure that will happen. Then, we will rally 'round the flag, invade another country, and pass "Patriot Act X."

14. Can I barf now?
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 03:22 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
:puke:

I'll be horribly pissed off if there is another terrorist attack in the US. The first time, I was stunned, horrified, saddened beyond belief. And I would be sad and horrified for the victims and their families, I am positive of it.

But stunned? Nope. Pissed off? Hell yeah.

WHERE IS Osama bin Laden??????????

15. We've changed
some vacation plans. Staying away from metro areas.

We all have to face the fact that the majority of the world hates us because of shrub's policies and his outright disdain for anyone's opinion/lifestyle other than his own. And it's just not him as evidenced by Nov 2nd.

Am I running around with my hair on fire? No. But we now live in a very different world that will not get any better in the short term. We expect it to get worse because of the narrow mindedness and stupidity of this administration. For that we all pay the price even those of us who stand against those policies.

19. I am particularly petrified
because my son wants to spend a year abroad going to school in Egypt. He has his degree in Political Science, with a minor in African Studies. He's starting Arabic V. And I want to handcuff him to his bed so he can't go anywhere. But he doesn't think that he can pursue his goals of getting a Masters in International Public Policy if he doesn't have a year abroad.

I am SO pissed at bush for turning this into such a dangerous world!!!
