Candy Crowley still dissing Kerry on lecture circuit
Kerry isn't President today because he likes green tea.

CNN reporter: Kerry not public's cup of tea

WEST PALM BEACH — You've heard of red states and blue states, now what about those crucial green tea states?

During a luncheon speech Monday to the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, CNN political correspondent Candy Crowley shared an early memory from the campaign trail that may explain why John Kerry will not be president next yea

In January 2003, when his campaign was still young enough that Kerry would actually sit down with reporters in a relaxed setting, he and Crowley met for breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Dubuque, Iowa.

"I'd like to start out with some green tea," Kerry told the waitress, who stared at him for a moment before responding, "We have Lipton's."

Lipton's would be fine, Kerry said, but the memory stayed with Crowley.

"There were many green tea instances," she told the sell-out crowd of 450 at the Kravis Center's Cohen Pavilion. "There's a very large disconnect between the Washington politicians and most of America and how they live. Bush was able to bridge that gap, and Kerry was not."

1. Oh my, he wanted green tea.
Well that right there explains everything.

OK not really, it only explains that the fucking "liberal" media makes such a huge deal out of TOTALLY IRRELEVANT CRAP when the people of this country are voting on their next leader.

Fuck off, Crowley the Butterqueen.

7. RIGHT ON
I used to watch CNN coverage of the election and found it impossible to watch that bitch. The other correspondent covering the Bush campaign seemed almost neutral. Crowley, however, acted like they'd just pushed her down a flight of stairs and she was readying her suit against the Kerry campaign.

several other manufacturers and is on the shelf at my regular ol' grocery store here in NC.

Is Crowley saying it is exotic or something?

The only problem with deleting all cable news is that you're just left with local news. Pretty much a meandering of public interest stories, and a pandering to an audience they assume have no higher than an 8th grade education.

85. This is what I sent:
"In a speech she gave in Florida, Ms. Crowley mentioned that there was a "green tea" moment with Sen. Kerry that indicated that he was too out of touch as a candidate, and that there had been several "green tea moments" throughout the campaign.

First of all, I contacted the hotel she spoke of, and they indeed to carry green tea. So the story Ms. Crowley told of the waitress staring at the Senator blankly and commenting that they had Liptons would seem to be bogus.

Second of all, please don't tell me that the fate of the free world rested on whether or not one of the candidates drank green tea.

I don't care about "green tea" moments. I care about the intelligence, knowledge and honesty of a candidate. I'm glad that I didn't depend on your station to inform me about the Senator, for it is apparent from this and other sources that you had a pre-conceived opinion of the man, and not a good one.

CNN has always been a respected news source in my eye until this campaign season. It was entirely too apparent where your allegences were placed in the way you covered both candidates.

That is a shame. I should not have been able to tell. But if was evident. If you helped the country make the wrong decision, I hope you can live with that. For it appears what is important to your reporters is not what is important for the country."

Too much? Not enough? Will they even read it?

14. Yeah, we here in Iowa have never heard of
green tea. My tush! One of my best friends only drinks green tea. Heck, every grocery store in this area stocks it. Perhaps if Candy would get out of the press pool long enough to check out the community she is in, she may be surprised to learn that we are not all the rubes she likes to believe we are.

Dubuque isn't exactly a village--not a metropolis--but still a sizable city. They have building more than 2 stories tall in their downtown area, and downtown takes up several blocks. They even have taxis.

43. Green tea is very good for you. I drink it all the time.
Research has shown it helps ward off heart disease, cancer, etc.

You can buy it in almost every grocery store in America. You may not be able to get it at a McDonald's drive-through, but it's common enough.

I guess Crowley's saying he should have ordered pork rinds and pretzels, like all-American Bush would have.

Even folks in Red America know that green tea is a beneficial substance. Crowley is the single best example I can think of to counter the "Liberal Media" smear--she is a hate filled, sneering propagandist.

You know, these right wing journalists who are propagating the myth of Red America have created it in order to hold on to power. She doesn't care any more for the common people than does the little prince.

That would be so unpatriotic. As opposed to Junior, who keeps a cow in the Oval Office and takes his milk straight. :eyes: Oh, wait, scratch that. I forgot. B*sh is afraid of large farm/ranch animals. Make that a goat.

Crowley is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if this is the lynchpin of her argument as to why Junior supposedly won. Yet another in a looooong list of reasons why I want this election 'result' overturned. Crowley will look even more ridiculous, her brilliant 'analysis' completely nullified. Her days on the lecture circuit will be over.

I hope her speech attendees demand their money back.

61. She was simply angry because they didn't have an
all you can eat breakfast buffet. She transferred her anger over that to Kerry, and is still expressing it, in between pastries, of course.

63. Low blow
I agree that Kerry isn't your 'everyman' but he's a cancer survior and obviously not a dimwit about his health. There are other things that illustrated he wasn't your average guy but this tea incident isn't one of them.

68. I drink green tea. Crowley wouldn't know this, but a lot of people into
healthy eating and drinking make a point of drinking green tea. Here in Texas, for gosh sakes, our firm keeps various teas INCLUDING GREEN TEA in the break rooms for us. And some of my friends pushing 60 years old make a point of drinking various teas, incl. green tea.

No, we don't jog or windsurf. We just work in an office in the heart of Texas. And we drink green tea.

69. I have been reading

this thread on and off today because I think it is really funny!!: Kerry didn't win because he ordered green tea at a Holiday Inn. I just gave some feedback on Candy Crawley on the CNN website. There is a form you can fill in to give positive or NEGATIVE feedback on reporters or anchors. I felt I had to compliment CNN for employing a senior political correspondent capable of such sophiticated analysis of the 2004 election (even if the analysis isn't presented on CNN). Did CC say she had many "green tea" moments on the campaign trial (oops, I meant trail)? What could this possibly mean??? Other than that CC isn't very bright and really has no business parading around under the title "Senior Political Correspondent."

Asked about Teresa Heinz Kerry, Crowley got a laugh when she described her as "the happiest person at his concession speech."

Fuck you, Candy Cornball.

75. Why are we treating Crowley's story as if it were true?
It sounds made up. The waitress's response doesn't follow from what Crowley claims Kerry said.

She obviously twisted his words to make him sound bad.

Instead of "I'd like to start out with some green tea," (which sounds snotty) I'll bet he actually said, "Do you have green tea?" To which the waitress replied, "We have Lipton's." Kerry accepted the Lipton's graciously, and that was that.

The sad thing of the whole deal is that Candy Crowley is taking money from people who then listen to her tell made up stories about her moment in the big time. It's rather pitiful, like a bunch of high school girls gathering to hear the details after one of their group returns from a one-time pity date with the quarterback.

82. I love a good green tea
a good cup of Oolong is nice and smooth.

Do you mean to tell me I was deprived of John Kerry as my president because he wanted green tea? Never mind his foreign policy -- hey everybody, he wanted green tea!

Thousands are going to die in Iraq because John Kerry wanted green tea.

Excuse me. I have to go explode now.
