Paula Zahn reminds me why I only watch PBS

I was at a Chinese buffet tonight, the TV being on CNN.

Some **** on Zahn's show, a supporter for a Constitutional amendment to allow naturalized citizens to run for president. The issue of course, was whether or not Ah-nuld Gropenator should run in '08. Zahn asked if she thought it was a bad idea to amend the Constituition for this purpose.

Her response: "Well, the Founding Fathers were rather liberal, so..."

I'll allow everyone here to ponder what a load of crap this is.

1. For their time they were radical.

The type of liberal democracy framed by the Constitution was quite different from other nations' governments in those days. It is admirable that they trusted and believed enough in the inherent goodness of human nature to risk setting-up such a "liberal" system.
