We voted for bush* because of Moral Values
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 04:26 PM by radfringe
that's what the neighbor next door told me about an hour ago -- and either her "values" are not all that moral or she doesn't have a clue that she is living next door to a lesbian couple. I didn't enlighten her, I just said that I hope she can survive another 4 years of wars, crappy economy etc.

Well, I about to say goodbye and head into the house but then she launched into how hard it is to raise three kids, and her husband has only recently gone back to work. He's going to be able to get health insurance at the end of the month, but they don't know if they can afford the family plan premiums... Work place pays 70% for employee, 0% for spouse/kids

I suggested that she ask her doctor if he gives a discount to people with moral values, then said I had to get going

Yeah, I know it's a rotten thing to say -- but gurndangit --- I'M pissed!

"what are you, some kind of welfare queen? If you can't afford three kids, why do you keep having them? Why should your husband's employer pay him more than it pays another employee doing exactly the same job simply because they have made different personal choices that are not the employer's business? Haven't you ever heard of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY?"

Republican talking points don't sound so nice when they're coming right back atcha.

4. THat was NOT a rotten thing to say.
Considering it's the truth. Every opportunity we remind these "moral" people about the consequences of their choices is a beautiful moment for us. Because even if one person in ten that is suffering economincally, yet voted for Bush**, realized that they just completely voted against the survival of their family, then next time at the ballot box they might think differently.
"I suggested that she ask her doctor if he gives a discount to people with moral values" Brilliant!

8. Its not even true
The whole "moral values" gap is bullshit not backed up by the polling. You should have pointed THAT out to her.

9. Perhaps it got her to thinking.....
but then again, probably not. These people are un-reachable. You HAVE to mention something to her about your partner....see if she catches on...:)

11. Fast on your feet award!
If it's any comfort - two clients, one a devout Baptist and another, a Republican former theology student - are as confounded by the "morals" vote as we are. They serve to remind me that not all churchgoers are sheeple...these are the people we need by our side in 2006 and 2008.
