Electoral Judo.
Let's all go register as Republicans and screw up their primaries.
Being a Democrat doesn't seem to offer enough leverage.

1. Where I live, you can vote in either primary, but not both.
I used this strategy and voted for McCain over Chimp in 2000. Didn't work.

That would seem to vary by location. In California I'd pick
fundies, in the South moderates and athiests. Especially in the
South, if the moderate gets elected, you are still better off.
The object is to throw monkey-wrenches into the guts of the machine,
so that would entail the opposite of whatever is usual.

Edit: it is also excellent to support non-incumbents and outsiders,
as opposed to party hacks.
