Can we PUH-LEEZE discuss SCOTUS? Rehnquist is probably
gone, so this may be our first chance to prove the Dems have some clout.

Who's a contender? How do we fight the wack appointments? And how do we make sure the Dems do their jobs in the confirmation hearings?

This is the thing I fear most right now, and it could happen any day now.

We need to be ready, and we need to hold our Dems' feet to the fire.

1. As terrya said in another post: Ashcroft.
If this doesn't make you extremely nervous, check your pulse.

4. Hell, blondeatlast, Ashcroft's already been vetted for AG.
He might get some grief on the Patriot Act from the Dems. But, Jesus. There are now 3 MORE Republicans in the Senate now. Ashcroft can and will get confirmed right now. It might not be pretty, but dammit, the votes are there.

2. All we hae is the filibuster
that's it. Nothing else.

Understand this ... we can protect no one ... not gays, not women, not children. No one. We are about to begin the era of Conservative Paradise.

Keep your heads down, kids.

6. But we can at least show we're willing to fight to the end.
We are, can the representatives of our party do it?

3. there are a few things we need to do
first is that the moderate prochoice republican senators need to be pressured to speak out against appointing anyone who is anti choice. they need to feel threatened that they will lose their seats if bush ends up appointing someone who helps in overturning roe v wade.

in fact it would be a good thing if those leading the fight against anti choice justices were republicans.

8. KICK. The Federalist Society is about to open it's doors WIDE...
the next four years. Some of the most evil, vicious men and women in this country are going to be nominated for federal judgeships as WELL as SCOTUS. Dammit, it's extremely important to talk about this and to decide how to fight this crap.
