4. Avoid political flak
Jettisoning Asscroft helps make Bush look less radical somehow maybe. Asscroft was a fucked up bastard and a real piece of work and I'm not sorry to see him go, but he was a DAMN good lightning rod.

Why Plame? I don't know. I just wanted to be the fist DU'r to say it is somehow connected to Plame before another hysterical and endless round of HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANOR threads got going.
