Why we lost. God, Guns, Guts.
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 11:07 PM by FatSlob
Below is an excerpt from a PM I sent to a fellow DUer. While the below are not the only reasons, they were contributing factors. Let's gear up for '06! I can't wait to continue the fight with my friends here. As an Ohioan, I think that we will be able to prevail here next time. Let's get them, let's not roll over, and let's fight the good fight. I love you guys, thanks for being here.

>Outside of the NE and the West Coast, most of America is about
>God, Guns, and Guts. I think PJ O'Rourke said something about
>that, and the quote has been popping into my head for the last
>number of hours. So, I decided to think about it. GOD: Bush
>seemed much more comfortable with his religion than Senator
>Kerry did. GUNS: Obvious here, Senator Kerry had a bad
>record on guns in the opinion of many gun owners, and his
>hunting trips seemed overly manufactured to many. Beyond
>that, our party has been creamed on the gun issue since 1994,
>it is time to drop it. GUTS: Senator Kerry has a proven
>Vietnam record, and an admirable Senate record. However, the
>"flip flop" label the GOP painted him with, the Swift Boat
>ads, and the fact that the Senator is from Massachusetts all
>hurt. We are at a low point in American history, but we have
>not lost. We have to keep up the fight and change the
>perceptions in middle America. I'm confident that we will
>sweep to victory in the 2006 midterms. I know that the above
>is only one factor, the evangelicals coming out in force
>obviously was huge. I feel upset for some friends too. One
>friend of mine had an absolute meltdown at a bar last night.
>We had to LITERALLY carry him out as he was screaming at
>Republicans and crying uncontrollably. Thankfully, the Police
>were understanding about this, and told us not to get him home
>and make sure he didn't go out the rest of the night. He had
>put his whole soul into this, as many of us had.
