While the Republicans may have framed hating gays and minorities as "values," that's just a nice word for racism and homophobia. For us to even THINK that it would be a good idea to play with them on this one is pretty disgusting.

Instead, we need to confront this head on and call it what it is.

hating and bashing gays is not a moral value and in fact i consider it immoral.

so when we speak about it we need to use words like "discrimination, bashing, hate etc" . don't go along and refer to these things as morals and values.

Funny--I've read the Bible a few times and I don't recall the part where it said it was okay to hate those who were different from you. I also totally missed the part where Jesus was riding around on the corporate Enron Jet. I'm pretty sure he hung out with the poor, the lepers, the prostitutes, not the moneychangers. I find it rather disheartening to see the number of posters here who advocate "reaching out to the middle" by adopting their "values" of racism, greed, nationalism, and bigotry.

My, my, it's soooo impractical to actually stand up for things like equal rights, abortion rights, the environment, economic justice, unions, and all those other dangerous things that the mythical middle find offensive.

10. Moral bankruptcy

and intellectual deficiency. Facts obviously mean nothing to Bush* voters. When a lying deserter (which disgusts me to no end because I'm a veteran) who has no positive record to run on, who can only pander to fear and hate (we'll stop those gays from getting married, send the dark-skinned people who aren't cooking, cleaning, and digging ditches to GITMO or prison, and keep the women barefoot and pregnant).

I would have thought that being gainfully employed, having access to affordable health care, and keeping big corporations from destroying our communities would be more important.

It's a sad day when hate, fear, and bigotry defeat love, hope, and compassion.
