I told my mother she was part of the problem
She emailed me knowing I am still angry and bitter. This is what I sent back:

Bush’s base is the Christian right. That’s what got him elected along with everyone else who believes he is a Christian and a good man. It’s all anyone’s got since he has such a horrible record in his four years of office. Most thinking people will tell you he is the worst president in the history of this country. It still amazes me ANYONE would vote for him.

The way I see it and no one will ever convince me otherwise, is that by keeping him in office, the people that voted for him didn’t just screw themselves, they screwed the rest of us. What makes it even worse is that man who calls himself a uniter is a polarizing figure in this country. Kerry never was. Bush is and we are now more divided than ever. He never tried to unite this country in the first place and you can bet he won’t even try this time around. I just read a news report this morning. He’s going to try to write discrimination into the constitution. We’re going farther into debt because he wants another $75 billion for the war in Iraq. You also voted for him to hack into your and grandmother’s social security which he has already done.

Bush also has to be nice to you. You’re the base that got him elected. So you will see more attempts to get prayer in school, make a woman’s right to choose illegal, and all those things you and your brand of Christians think will put this country on the track YOU think it needs to be. He might even get the Patriot Act II passed since the republicans now run the courts, the house and the senate. Might as well face the fact we are in a theocracy. Bush is going to do to this country what the founders had NEVER intended it for.

What’s sad is that Bush’s actions are the most unchristian ones but you’ve been fooled into believing otherwise. He started a war, has put this country into hopeless debt, ruined the economy and has further divided it. In my book, he’s comparable to the anti-christ. Yeah, my feelings about him are pretty strong, but I have facts and truth that makes me feel this way. It’s the same facts and truth you want to avoid by sticking your head in the sand.

The majority of this country voted for him and I can’t change that. Those of us who are opposed to him will pay for it and so will the majority. My thinking is you deserve everything you’re going to get and those of us who fought to keep him out of office will pay for it as well.

Yeah, I hurt, but I’m also angry. I am angrier than I have ever been in my life. I’m angry at that man that calls himself president. I’m angry at the people that voted to keep him in office and I’m angry that people are willing to stand by and allow that man to shred the constitution and the bill of rights. That’s what you voted for and you can have it.

In addition to what I said earlier I want to make this clear. These divisions were caused by the republicans. They saw a prime opportunity to put democrats in an impossible position. Liberalism has been turned into this dirty word when it’s not. Take a few minutes and go look up ‘liberal’ in the dictionary. It was liberals that gave you social security. It was liberals that gave us the veteran’s administration. It was liberals that gave us Medicare. It was liberals that gave us welfare. Those are just a few examples. Jesus was a liberal and you voted against his principles.

That should make you sleep better.
