As a Resident of Ohio, I believe Ohio was stolen
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 07:54 AM by ck4829
Some fellow DUers claim that the Election was not stolen. They have the right to say that. But, now it is my turn to tell you I believe the Election was stolen.

November 2 was a beautiful day even though it was raining. Wherever I went there was 90%-99% support for Kerry.

Just in the air alone, you could tell People wanted change, many people had 'honk for change' signs. Exit polls have shown Kerry having the lead. People were talking about Bush, but they were talking about how bad of a President he was. There was virtually nobody who said Bush was good.We all know Ohio is in bad shape because of Bush. And, we all knew it would get worse if Bush.

Ohio was starving for change.

Why would a State starving for change allow Bush to have 4 more years?

Because, the Election was not in the hands of the Residents of Ohio, or any other State for that matter.

1. not an Ohioan (from MA) but can not believe Bush won OH
Will Ohioans protest, do you think? After all, Kerry's concession is not legally binding.

2. so, are you saying that the local dem party
in Cuyahoga county and eastern and south-eastern Ohio stole the election for Bush (since the dems control these counties) or were too incompetent to realize the election was being stolen?

Let's get real. If Bush & Rove are so smart it must mean the local dems are stupid.

Kerry lost. He got beat in Ohio. Look for conspiracy theories somewhere else.

3. I know Ohio was stolen for a fact
It's just a matter of time before I find them

I had such a good feeling going into that election morning and then something changed mid-afternoon, about the time die-bold was tampered with.

14. Same here, Im in Ohio, and I felt it too. You could feel the change.
Even the Bush supporters I talked to did not feel good about the outcome, they felt it as well. I do not know one person that voted Gore that voted for Bush, but I know of a few republicans that voted Kerry.

The Republicans did everything they could to surpress the vote here in Ohio. They were the one that had challengers, or the threat of challenges at the polling booth. Not only Democrats were fearful of having their vote challenged, but Republicans too. They were the ones that tried to make exit polling difficult in Ohio. They were the ones that filed one law suit after the other to stop absentee ballots from being counted. Just how hard did they try and do this in other states that had electronic voting without a paper trail?

The truth will come out one day. I can't prove it, but the lack of proof does not change the feeling that the election was stolen.

4. Lets hope for a whistleblower
Can you imagine if a whistleblower for Diebold came forward with evidence of tampering? Nixon all over again. I can only hope.

6. If a Diebold employee comes forward, it is still too late, isn't it?
If chimpy is impeached, el diablo Cheney becomes prez. Is that so much better?

7. I figured out how
I wanted to post this as it's own thread, but right now the site won't let me. I'll try again later but here it is for now:

I figured out how Karl Rove & Co. took the election. I realize this is paranoid speculation, but it is also not outside the realm of possibility. Take a state like Ohio. You have a very close race, the Democrats out register the Republicans by 10 to 1 and the early exit polling showed a lead for Kerry. But Bush won. How? In Ohio you have a Republican Secretary of State and Governor who seem willing to do whatever it takes to effect the vote. You also have generous voter residency and registration requirements. And you have Deibold voting machines that don't use paper ballots and can be manipulated.
So if your Karl Rove, you do a few things. First you register a bunch of bogus new voters. But you register them as Democrats. This way no one questions the names. (Why would the Democrats question new Democratic registration?) You do this in very Republican counties where you can find good, God fearing election officials to help. And you use the new Deibold machines that don't need actual people to cast a vote. (ballot box stuffing by software) Come election day you have these "new Democratic voters" cast their vote for Bush. But to pull it off you have to keep it hidden. You use slight-of-hand distraction to keep everyone looking elsewhere. So you hire thousands of poll watchers and lawyers to go into the heavily Democratic urban precincts to suppress the vote. This takes all the resources of the Democrats, and leaves your ballot stuffing activities free from scrutiny. And if you stop some Kerry voters along the way, so much the better.
I have nothing to back this up but my sense that the voting in Ohio just didn't add up. I don't have a good enough knowledge of Ohio or the statistical resources and data to check this out. But it can be done. If some one would to look at some of those "red" counties that had a very heavy voter turnout and went mostly for Bush, and also had larger new voter registration. It would not have taken much to tip the scales. And let's face it, not beyond what Rove is capable of. This is also a scenario that could work equally well in Florida, where you have the same criteria and where the "red" counties overcame the voting in the "blue" counties. Even though the early voting had given Kerry an 8 to 10 % lead.
If I can come up with this plan, the "Boy Genius" would certainly be able to.

11. DID ANY OF YOU WATCH THE NEWS??!?!
We got our voters to the polls, too, but the literal hours our Democratic urban voters were FORCED to wait in rain and cold, or rain, heat and humidity turned them off. They left to go raise their healthcare-less kids, and to work at their two or three jobs to keep their families just above the brink of abject poverty.

Forget the tin-foil hats!! The evidence was before our eyes, the minute Florida early polls opened.

Voter suppression and disenfranchisement of the poor is ALIVE AND WELL.

17. You are absolutely right.
Long lines in the cities-that's how this election was stolen.
There was no lines in 2000. Why there were long lines in 2004?
We all thought it was because of enormous turnout. Turnout did increase, but surely, not 10 fold to cause such long lines. Instead of turnout, most likely explanation for those lines-less voting machines in the urban areas.

12. I live in Florida and I think both states were stolen the same way.
Amazing how these two states had the same pattern that the close senate races had in 2002 - Democrats were favored going in and the repubs won. Supposidly there were 10,000 more Democrats in Polk county. Yet the repubs got 3 times more votes. Not the best county to pick cause they're wierd here. But Kerry won Miami-Dade by 100,000 votes. Give me a break!

19. I dont believe it
Go look at the composite numbers on that Ohio.Com map we were posting election night.

If GOTV efforts were equal between Dem and Rep areas, Dems win, but Reps got more votes in their areas and also had a greater percentage.

The Dem areas did well too, but the percentage was typical, unlike the Rep areas where the commitment to Bush was stronger than the commitment to Kerry in Dem areas.

Just saying Ohio was stolen doesn’t sound like anything but sour grapes. We had 1000s of lawyers on hand, all processes were verified before hand and this entire nation not only sent Bush back to the White House, but MORE REPUBLICANS with him.

Yes, I think its repulsive that superior Democratic MODERATE candidates can get beaten by loose-cannon nutbags like what happened in South Carolina, Kentucky and Oklahoma…but there is nothing other than Internet rumor mongering that this election was stolen.

We ran against an incompetent baboon. We should have won 55% of the vote. Bush won by over 3 million votes. The problems are far deeper than election fraud. This is WHY we got beat again.

We spent 4 years complaining about the election of 2000 that we didn’t produce a real vision for the American people.

Quit blaming the freaking people, quit saying it was fixed…Figure out WHY WE DIDN’T get 55% of the vote. There are reasons, we gotta find em. Election fraud is a waste of time.

20. I understand your feelings,
but to a lot of us the numbers from Ohio just don't add up. They go against the exit polling. Maybe they didn't steal Ohio. But there is enough suspicion to look into it.

21. Here is my analogy
The box on *'s back.

Perhaps there is a benign explanation that makes sense. But there isn't one that has been proposed.

Perhaps there is some reasonable explanation on why the votes went so weird in FL and Ohio. But there isn't one that has been proposed.

23. Read Greg Palast's article
on Tompaine.com called "What Happened in Ohio?" He thinks repukes were up to their old voter suppression tricks that worked so well in FLA in 2000. The new wrinkle this year was "provisional" ballots which were handed out like candy in minority districts - which also just happened to have the most decrepit voting machines -- no doubt producing scores of under and overvotes ripe for tossing. Palast twice called Blackwell's office yesterday and asked for under and overvote totals. Was hung up on both times.

Kills me that Kerry is letting this go. Since there is a paper trail here, he could, conceivably, get some answers.
