If the Democrats move further to the right
can you still support them? If the Democrats move one sliver more to theright I will not be able to stand this party of appeasers any longer. they have already endorsed privatizing medicare, never ending war, trickle on economics, and banning gay marriages. How much fucking worse could it possibly get? I am so angry right now! I know there are a few good Dems out there, but they are so far and few between! Back in the 60s-70s the so called Progressive Caucus' fiscal policies would have been run of the mill Democratic policies. Now they are already considered extremist!

3. We won't win elections by trying to market ourselves as GOP Lite.
What we need is honest voting -- get rid of the BBV -- and more honest reporting by the media.

4. I'm all but a breath away from leaving.
No doubt the DNC will do something absolutely idiotic that will cause me to leave and work for the Green party or really anyone but the DNC.

5. NO We have to have to have a real party OF THE PEOPLKE
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:50 PM by Vincardog
BY THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE. If the Democratic party gets any more Republican like we should dump them and Start a REAL Progressive Party. First we have to get rid of the crooked electronic voting boxes.

joining a party that matches my values (greens or SLP). If the Dems move to the right, I am gone by default.

12. Im sorry
if this is a dup. i am just feeling so upset with my party right now. I almost wish a Progressive Party would form nationwide. they already have one in Washington and Vermont. Maybe they need to start expanding.

to be stuck until we fix the elecion system. I am talking gutting the stupid thing and rebuilding it!

14. The only rightward direction should be toward fiscal conservatism
Many Democrats lean this way. The fiscal conservative/social liberal approach. It can work.

Balanced budget AND civil liberties. And spending money at home in ways that benefit many Americans as opposed to spending it on bullshit like marriage counseling for heterosexual couples. Works for me.

15. NO! GOD NO!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again, yet expecting different results. The Dems have acted like madmen one final time. If there is no revolution inside the party, then we should all just hang it up or go for a third party.

17. they'll have to think long and hard about which issues they move right
if they are too aggressive to appeal to the center by moving right, they could help spur a third party growth with greens.

18. its not a matter
of right versus left. We need a message that can unify liberals moderates and independents. Did you think Clinton was too conservative. He's a hero to many here now.

Clinton was better than Bush
But I cant say I liked him. He passed welfare reform, NAFTA, Defense of marriage Act, and the Telecommunications Act. He was barely even a moderate.

20. The Democrats could move to the right of Atilla the Hun
and they'll still keep losing.

They've lost touch with the culture, not the issues. Get the primaries out of Iowa and New Hampshire and you'll have a better chance at a candidate people can relate to.
