52. He said he'd vote for Kerry AGAIN. The PAPER TRAIL is the thing.
Yes, he ranted a bit, shouting over the "concession"- a bit of theater from Mr. Malloy. Let it out, I understand. But the whole point of the entire show was computer voting FRAUD. Name YOUR PERFECT candidate, running a great campaign and doing EVERYTHING YOU WANT. If votes are tabulated in this way, the FIX is ALWAYS in. By whatever margin deemed proper by the fixers.

That is the ONE thing above all we need to address. I suggest pushing that on our congress and media people. Without that, nothing else matters.

5. Then what should we do? Make nice and whimper like the typical democrat
that THEY have demonized and stereotyped? FUCK THAT!
The strong survive and Kerry just proved he is weak. He needed to show some real balls and stand up to the corruption that not once, but TWICE stole a presidency from US! From YOU and ME!
He put himself on that plate to be eaten by not doing what THEY would have donein a similar scenario.

GO MIKE!

I sincerely question the fact that you have a soul at all. Kerry didn't do anything wrong for crying out loud.

There are things that happened that are out of our control and now we have to find a way to fight it.

9. I have to agree
I'm regretting all the time and effort I put into the campaign.

I don't think I'll ever do that again. It will be hard to trust any "leader" the Dems throw at us now.

Kerry's backstabbing premature concession, I fear, has killed a huge grassroots organization before it ever really got going.

21. Don't Ever Regret
You did what your heart told you to...and what you felt was right, never regret.

I'm as angry and pissed as anyone and seeing this place implode as it has is just amplifying things.

I have no regrets in what I did and no one else should either. We got outworked, out "messaged" and then outnumbered. Yes, there's other factors here, but at this close stage and people are asking what happened, that's all I can logically conclude.

There is a serious problem now that the finger pointing (and I have my share of bitches as well) will not only set back anything useful that places like DU and others have attempted to build, but to splinter Liberals, Progressive, Moderates and others into just exactly what Rove and his cabal want.

There's no quick fix here and I feel many of the same sentiments you do. You have no idea how hard I tried networking and offering lots of experience and even financing and all the egos and games I ran into.

If I learned anything, and we're seeing it play out here now...how in this "Communications age", how poorly we really do communicate. DU now is people shooting at or over each other. There's little discussion or actual listening going on here.

however, I think we have some very major, painful work ahead of us

and part of it is an honest assessment of what has worked and what has not.

I'm mostly just taking out my frustration, anger and disappointment on the GD-punching bag forum. It's working too. I feel better already.

34. The Denial Is Our River Now
Today we got a message from several places...the obvious one that gives the manchild the mandate...but also one from inside our own heads of how un-organized many of the factions are here and the lack of discipline and follow-through on many common goals...there was way too much of a rush to glory and to be blame others on the failures.

From what I've been seeing the past 24 hours, I don't see an honest assement happening. Instead it's finger pointing and pity parties. Sorry, I am not up for either. Honestly, I'm was frustrated with many Democrats this election season and those feelings multiplied massively in the past 24 hours.

I'm a blunt realist...and back to where I was in 2000...having expended heart & soul and feeling both empty and abandonded. I'm definitely taking a "political holiday"...putting the old checkbook and shoe leather to rest for quite some time to come.

Best of luck

Cheers!

37. Well, THAT's certainly self-destructive
If it's the way you feel, and the decision you're making, okay, fine. But it's self-destructive and defeatist. If you want to hand over what little power you have left, then go right ahead. But there's an old saying about the only time you really, truly fail is when you stop trying.

Me? No way. Kerry let me down, and I absolutely did have my moment of tears over what I perceived as a betrayal by him. But that's over. It's done. Can't pull kerry back from the edge or change the outcome -- it's all spilled milk. Onward and upward, wherever that may be or take us.

39. I don't think they had a CLUE about the machines
Oh, yeah, sure, they threw out some nice rhetoric about them during the campaign, but if they'd REALLY had a clue, they'd have considered FL first and foremost, along with OH as a follow-up. They wouldn't have just folded their tents less than 24 hours after polls closed -- you can't tell nothin' in that short a time.

They are CLUELESS about this issue except in a very general (and almost meaningless) sense.

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 02:38 AM by juajen
That is to show the pugs that they are in danger of being hacked too. I would not post it earlier because I am definitely in the minority with the BBV contingent (which I love and am grateful too); but a few million votes for Mickey Mouse in several states would have made believers out of the republicans. They were afraid we would steal it, also. This would prove how easy it is.

Edited to add: BTW, I am not a computer expert; so, this is easy for me to say, impossible to do. But, according to BBV it is easy to do, so someone could do it. I know, I know, it's against the law, but they seem to be breaking the law at will. Sometimes you have to beat them at their own game.

55. The "moderate" (read: conservative) wing...
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 05:09 AM by western mass
has a deathgrip on this party. Their corporate-friendly, conservative-values, business-as-usual, non-controversial
approach to the right-wing onslaught has been worse than no opposition: it has actively stood in the way of putting
up a real opposition.

Identifying the enemy is easy: the GOP. Identifying the enablers
who have done everything they can to let them steal this country: that's the next step.

You DLC supporters can whine all you want. The rest of us will be rolling up our sleeves to get rid of you, so we can get on with the business of taking back our country from the fanatics.
