The Iowa Caucuses are on Monday, January 19. That day, Democratic Underground would like to run eight articles on our homepage in support of each of the eight candidates. (Two are not competing in Iowa, but we think it is only fair that they are included.) Please submit your article to [e-mail] before 4:00PM ET on Sunday.

The purpose of this thread is so that they can write an endorsement for their candidate, free of disruption from supporters of other candidates. Any posts by opponents of Richard Gephardt which try to disrupt this thread, will be deleted by the moderators.

1. Gephardt's experience...

Gephardt's experience will make him the most effective president we've had in my lifetime.

His experience has led him to articulate the best ideas on health care and renewable energy, and it will enable him as president to get them enacted.

No candidate will enact exactly the program they are proposing. The actual result will come about after negotiations with many different parties. I trust Gephardt to have the skill and the desire to fight for the best result for the people.

His job for the last 15 years has been to find ways to get votes in Congress to get legislation done. He's had successes and failures, and he will as president have successes and failures, but he is the best equipped among the candidates to succeed as much as possible.

His working class background gives him firsthand experience with the way most of us live, and what our values and priorities are, and how much help everyone needs to succeed.

His message about us all being connected rings true with me. I believe it, and I think Gephardt believes it.
