Seriously! Let's all join the Republican Party
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 06:32 PM by leftofthedial
Every Democrat in the country, join the Republican Party and become activists.

Change THEM from within. It would be easier and faster than trying to add 10 or 20 IQ points to 51% of the country.

It would also leave the current Dem "leaders" in charge of what they deserve to lead: nothing and noone.

1. I'd do it ...
... for no other reason than I don't really give a shit at this point. I'm so demoralized, I'd do anything for a good laugh.

Don't listen to me. I've got a whole bottle of 8% Belgian Ale in me.

17. Straight Up
We do need to infiltrate the Republican ranks on many levels. It is obvious that we are in a political war and the only way to defeat an enemy that has a stronghold is to infiltrate and disrupt from within.

19. I might for the next Primary
so I can have input in who the candidate will be and pick the lesser of the evils since it seems that the Democrats are never going to get a President again. You can be sure it will always be a repuke so it might as well be a repuke that we have some say who it is.

22. what party? and what do you mean by "easily"?
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 07:07 PM by leftofthedial
they've handed all three branches of the government to a fringe right wing cabal--the supreme court will now be a theocratic/fascist institution for the rest of our lifetimes--they proved they can't defeat the worst "president" in US history with a bona fide war hero running . . .

It's been Nixon twice, Reagan twice, the bushturds three times now, with only one-term Carter and Clinton in the mix. They have now staked complete claim to the political agenda of the country.

I think it's time for a change.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

21. I don';t agree with the Repubs but I don't think they're stupid enough ...
... to fall for your scheme. And since they control the media, I really wouldn't look forward to the Dem-bashing "news" stories that would result from your plan.

24. the repuke party is a coalition of several smaller constituencies
the gun nuts

the religious wack jobs

the anti-tax psuedo-libertarians

the truly wealthy

With a new coalition numbering 48% of the voting population, we would overwhelm any one of the other groups and become the largest bloc within the party

guaranteed that the "deal-with-the-devil" coalition binding these other blocs would crack.

This would be a MUCH simpler task than re-educating the entire "red" nation from scratch.

33. the true neocons who are calling the shots and benefitting
from this coalition number only about 2% of the repuke base

they have hoodwinked or bribed almost all their support by pandering to single-issue zealots on a few select wedge issues.

27. we'll end up like the Moderate repubs
after the republican revolution all the moderates that dominated the party were forced out until only a few in the most liberal areas remained.

If you can find a way to keep this from happening, please let me know

41. the little bushturd got 59 million votes
that is their entire coalition, including the religiously insane, the gun nuts, the racists, the fascist neocons, and the other factions who respond to their fear and hate agenda.

If we could get 30 million VOTING Democrats to join the repuke party, we would be the largest and by far the most intelligent single bloc in their coalition and could begin to moderate their platform from within.

This would really throw all polling into the shitter.

It would make it very difficult for their coming campaigns.
