Inauguration Day: Will We Stand Up?
I am surprised to come here and not find an active thread with people organizing and pledging to go to DC on Jan. 20 and make some noise. I'm not talking about violent protest, I'm talking about masses of people letting it be known that 55 Million of us voted AGAINST *, the largest number of votes against any president in history.

If this is being talked about somewhere else, let me know. Because I'm going.

We cannot change the outcome, but we can let the rest of the country and the rest of the world know that we stand against this adminstration.

1. If there's going to be a convoy from Tennessee, please let me know.
I will be happy to share in the fuel expenses, food and lodging.

I would drive myself, but I don't know if my little piece of shit 1990 Mitsubishi Mirage would make the trip.

2. For what? To get a warm feeling inside?
The media will not show it. They didn't last time. Why would they this time?

4. Yeah, there's the spirit!
If it's publicized, if it's big, if it includes some big names, they will show it.

I am sad and frustrated and disgusted, but I am not BEATEN. As I told my family, I have 2 kids and I am going to teach them that we may not always win but if we believe in our path we will never EVER stop fighting.

I cannot believe that people are not organizing en masse to march on Washington on Jan. 20. Maybe it's too soon and we're too raw yet. I'll give it some time.

5. I'm just saying, it's not going to change anything
and it's not going to help in the short term or long term. Our party leaders have to reframe the message... that is the winning strategy.

6. It's only part of the strategy...
The strategy, which I'm expecting to emerge over the next few months here and on other sites, is multi-faceted.

And there should always be a place in our strategy for masses of people taking to the streets in a nonviolent manner to let it be known that we are not going to go away.

And yes, the bonus is that it does make us feel better to be surrounded by masses of other people who feel exactly the same way. It reminds us that we are not alone and it gives us the strength to fight on. In fact, it's why some people to come to DU.

3. It didn't have much of an effect back in 2000 when * STOLE the election
the motorcade got egged and everything, yet...no impact.

why bother now that 58 million asshats (with the help of paper-free e-voting machines) have given him the popular vote?

8. Exactly
and I am surprised more people aren't jumping at this.

Then again I am heartened to see all of the responses to Will Pitt's post. Many people are probably still too stunned or too drunk to think straight yet, but I can feel the fight in me and I'm glad to see it in others.

No one should have any doubts how we feel.

11. LOL
That would be cool. A silent protest, with our backs turned.

15. Absolutely
Like in the movie "Bloodsport", a way of showing "yes, you won, but you did so without honor, hence you are not an honorable man. I turn my back on you."

Ten thousand people silently turning their backs on the President would be a great protest.

12. Hmm...guess it's too early to talk about this for most of us
I am still devastated, but the thought of protesting * on inauguration day did make me feel better.

I expect we will get to this, and many of us will be there.

16. On that day I intend to utterly ignore the one person who
has been ignoring me and my needs for the past 4 years. No TV, no radio, a total blackout at my home. Nothing, nada.
