Looking at the bright side for '08 - positive trends
Positive trends:
-Kerry had a marked improvement compared to 2000 with young voters
-the countries population shift is moving towards the cities, while rural areas are continuing to die out due to technology and outsourcing
-in '08, unless Bush takes us to another war, we won't have a "wartime party" and we cannot have a "wartime president"
-being out of power in the '90s helped forge political talk radio on the right, as it will help this decade with progressive talk radio
-outsourcing and the financial squeeze of the middle class will continue under Bush, and Republicans will be pointed at as responsible for it all since they control everything
-hispanic population growth will continue to surge and will eat into Republican majorities (Salazar is a great example of this developing trend)
-if, god forbid, there is a constituational amendment against gay marriage, they lose it as an issue in '08.
-if there are significant advances in stem cell research in other countries, Dems can hammer conservatives on this issue in '08 as proof of Bush's failed policy.

I'm sure you guys can name others...

1. More "positives"
The poverty rate will continue to rise, and it will clearly be the fault of the administration.
The abortion rate will continue to rise, and then become illegal.
The debt will be at record levels.
We will be drafting young men and women to fight in the middle east.

Bush will have to find someone to blame for all of these things, and I don't know if he can manage. The Repukes will have blood on their hands that won't wash off.

4. no prob
but thinking about Bush's continued horrifying policies is hard to view as a positive. But there was some talk before the election of saying let Bush win and he'll fuck things up so bad the conservatives cannot recover, so I guess that's the warped way we have to view things right now.

3. 2008
2008 will be the first time since 1952 that the presidency will be an open seat since 1952....

That's historic...
