A perfect example as to why we lost the election...
There is a guy in my office, nice guy, intelligent, was a "swing" voter who voted for *. Today, he comes in and causally asks if the guy I voted for won or lost (we try not to talk politics, but I had a feeling he was leaning towards *). Anyway, many months ago, I chatted with him about the war. He never once said that he was for the war, but then again never once did he say he wasn't for it either.
Today, he makes the bold statement of: I think it was good that we took out Saddam, because he was in the process of making and had small amounts of WMD's. My jaw dropped to the floor. My first question was, "where do you get your news from?" He said, Fox and Cnn. Need I say more. It was at this point that I told him that chaney, rumsfeld, and powell all said that there was no weapons, and then went on to say that Saddam wasn't a threat. And that the UN had destroyed most if not all of the remaining banned weapons, before the US went in.
He paused. Then said, " so what was the reason for the war?"
I said, "there was none"
He got this far off sad look in his eye. "they lied?"
I shook my head and said, "they have been lying all along"
It was like his world just fell down around him.
I asked him whats wrong.
He said and I quote, "I'm sorry. I wasted my vote."
This is why, in a nutshell, we lost. Brainwashing. Period.
We can scream the truth from the top of a hill, but unless it's broadcast from fox or cnn, the truth isn't worth a damn.
I'm sad we lost but now I know why.

4. thinking about this...
on the drive home this am..and I KNOW shortly after this "high" the people that voted for * are on..they will wake up and it will be TOO FUCKING late...

I laugh when they say "college educated" people trended to Kerry..
I didn't graduate from college..but it just shows you that people who don't care to learn the real truth and who take what they are told at face value...are FOOLS...

5. The real question is: Do we forgive these people?
In 2 years, if the Bush voters finally come to their senses, should we forgive them for being uninformed???

10. Of course!
It's like saying "Do we forgive people who have a parasite?"

Once the parasite is gone, welcome back!

11. nope Forgiveness would you forgive a german soldier who was just
following orders?/
this person is responsable for telling the world that they condone abu gahraib They support bombing iraqi wedding parties and unilateral unjustified war.
If you voted for bush you gave him a thumb up.You justified his actions and put a stamp of approvel on it.

9. That story says it all.
It isn't our candidate. It isn't our campaign. It's our lack of media control.

Brainwashing is hard to counteract.

12. You May Be Right
But you may be wrong! Most of them know the TRUTH, they just won't LOOK at it!! I've tried talking to these idiots time and time again! If they had half of brain cell, they'd might be able to get the wind-up key out of their back!

13. In a rural pub in north scotland...
I had a similar chat not long ago, with the pub owner who was busy
watching pat robertson gloating on satellite TV. All issues were
trumped, by the "we christians won" and the singing of irrelevant
hymm like tunes, with an unveiling of the stars and bars as a
celibration of a bush victory... (in north scotland).

"Bush has saved more lives from abortion than the few lost in iraq."

How can one argue with fantasy facts like this?

I spent the last 3 hours discussing american politics with people who
had never been in the USA, but had stronger ideas about who should
be president than myself, a natural born 4 decades resident USA
citizen. What? Clearly the cult has left the borders of the USA.

I was told that bush was like "ranger" supporters in glasgow, and that
kerry supporters were "celtic". Wow! FOr anyone in the know about
that situation, its a first for me to hear it framed that way.

14. Democracy is Dead.

I wanted to post this as an original thread but the site won't let me. If anyone appreciates what I have to say would you please post this for me as an original thread.

Che Guivera said in his writing, Guerrilla Warfare, that when free elections cease to be the way leaders are chosen that hostilities can be presumed to have already started. Anyone on this board who gives any credence to this election having been anything but a sham is either naive or a fool. Democracy died at the 2000 election. Being good people who believe in this country we attempted with this, the 2004 election to use what we have always known as the American system to change things. We said to ourselves that the 2000 election while wrong was something we would not let happen again. We truly meant what we said. What we did not realize is that since the 2000 election things are no longer in our control. Michael Moore and others believed enough in our system of government to believe that we could get out the vote, motivate people to change the country through the democratic process and that we could in that way take the country back from those who stole it from us in 2000.

They were not aware as were most of us were not, that Democracy in this country died in 2000. This election, the 2004 election should confirm this for us all. It pains me to say this but I feel that it is true. I think that the power has shifted from the people, who make this a democracy to those who now own the country. I know that many of our fellow Americans voted for these people in this election, because of ignorance and the propaganda that they are fed on a daily basis by these people who now control this country. Their beliefs, their values, were used against them and they assisted these people with their agenda and a little assistance added to a lot of money...which is power in our capitalist system is all that they need to give an air of legitimacy to this pretense of democracy.

What is next? I do not know. I can almost picture and hear things like...."Term limits are outdated and UnAmerican"...."If the people want me to be President forever that is their right." I truly believe that we will never again see a REAL election again in this country until something happens to remove the people who now own and are in control of OUR country. Government of the people, by the people and for the people is over with for now... and will be until the next chapter in American history comes. When will it come, how will it come, only the people can determine that. I hope that I live long enough to see the nation become something other than what it is today, November 3rd, 2004. I have never been less proud to be an American than I am on this day.
