The Fight Is Now WITHIN The Republican Party
Basically, the last scraps we have rests with them. Will they have the principles to stand against their official party platform?

1. Nah
Just look at McCain. We have to stop relying on the GOP to do our jobs for us.

3. too late for that
the "Christian" right has already hijacked the GOP:

http://www.TheocracyWatch.org/

Our only hope is the defection of moderate republicans from the NE to independent status, maybe join together to form a moderate conservative NE party

The extremists are in control and are not going to give up power.

4. It's possible
There are some non-extreme senators still there who might join the Democrats in opposing some of Bush's ultra-right wing agenda.

6. On paper, but not in political reality
This is a blank check for four years of corporate corruption, religious extremism, elimination of civil liberties and neocolonialism. Only if two of these pigs start fighting over the same feeding trough will there be a fight.

11. we have already decided

McCain is a prick and a coward and a liar.

I don't want to see his name except next to an insult, ever.

8. And in the meantime, while they are fighting, we need to have a
fight within our own party for our soul. It's time reclaim populism that is not just rhetoric.
