'Guns, God and gays' is KILLING us,
All the gay marriage initiatives have been overwhelmingly defeated. The NRA ran a multi-million dollar campaign against Democrats in the South and midwest. It has hurt us severely with white males. We have lost touch with the heartland.

1. Yeah...I feel so much better knowing I am reviled for...
...actually wanting to settle down with my same-gender lifepartner and protect each other's interests.

Putting civil rights up for a vote is polar opposite of what this country should stand for.

My mistake.

4. It's like preaching Abolition
Preaching for Gay rights is alot like preaching abolition was 140 yrs ago. The people in the Red states don't care about the rights Blue stater's give to GLBT's. But if we try to force acceptance to fast on the red states, there is a powerful lot of resistance. We need to deal effectively with their fears.

Likely many of these folk are uncomfortable with public displays of affection to start with. And when the imagination gets going they probably picture a GLBT couple on every corner engaging in such. And that is more than their belief structure can handle.

3. Promote religious diversity
Freedom of religion isn't just seperation of church and state (which I am strongly for), but also the freedom to practice any religion you want. If we work to promote religious diversity, we won't look anti-God and we'll be promoting an end to the fundie-dominated nation.

5. Maybe they have lost touch with their hearts.
What's wrong with people? Selecting a group of people to take rights away from to make yourself feel "Christian" or whatever the fuck ever it makes these people feel?
