It's the ignorance, stupid
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:00 PM by senseandsensibility
I've given up huge chunks of my life and my checking account to get * out of office. It's been my first thought upon waking each morning, and my last thought before going to bed for FOUR YEARS. Like everyone here, I'm devastated, emotionally and even physically(I have a raging hangover), which of course is my own fault. I am numb, and I can offer no words of comfort, although I want to. I want to comfort the brave souls I have met on DU. You are my brothers and sisters in the fight and YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. Even through the fog of my hangover and my misery, I can still see the truth. And that is the truth.

We battled against an enemy bigger than ourselves. The enemy is ignorance. Ignorance has settled over our citizens, and not only in the south. A couple of weeks ago, a young woman on my street in California told my husband that she would vote for * because he would get us out of Iraq, and that Clinton had gotten us into it. Sigh.
THAT is what we're up against, folks.

2. We have to break down the wall of ignorance, but how?
The media sure as hell won't help. Four years of incompetence and failure didn't break it down. And the repubs will use and abuse their power to keep the wall up at all costs.

What the hell can we do?

3. Your despair is not misplaced
I have the same thoughts daily. The media is a powerful tool in the repukes hands. We have to wrench it out somehow, but I don't have any answers.
