Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) for minority leader
Why? He's from a "safe" state. He's from the mid-West. He's got a liberal voting record, but on TV he comes off as blue collar tough, rather than white collar weak.

Durbin and Obama are going to represent my state well, and Durbin is going to represent the party as a whole very well

5. Sounds like a good idea
What do you think of Howard Dean for chair of the DNC?

6. I think it would be a disaster
I just don't see how that helps the Democrats improve their position in the red states. The fact is, no matter how well we do in the blue states, it's not enough to win the White House. I'd rather have John Edwards.

11. I was a former Dean support and I agree with you
We need a pro-gun Southern head of the DNC now. I was actively against moving to the center before. I support it 100% now.

Although Daschle was a good man, he should never have been chosen as Majority or Minority Leader, coming from such a conservative state where he was in constant danger of losing his job unless he cowtowed to the conservatives in his state.

17. Durbin rides the L to downtown. He is a man of the people.
Minority leader in 2004 and President elect in 2008!

Blue collar midwesterner, exactly what we need. I emailed his office this morning pleading with him to run.
