NC elects first openly gay legislator

When the legislature convenes in January, for the first time in our state's history, North Carolina will have an openly gay state legislator in Raleigh working on behalf of ALL North Carolinians. Yesterday, the citizens of New Hanover County made a choice to say no to the negative politics of bigotry and division, and yes to an outstanding new State Senator. County Commissioner Julia Boseman defeated appointed State Senator Woody White with 51 per cent of the vote.

3. Kind of strange, isn't it?
People hate gays as a generalized thing, but that doesn't necessarily translate into hating an actual person.

Prejudice is a horrible thing.
