Folks, we got an ass whuppin'
Face it, learn from it, and stop making the same mistakes the Democrats have made over the past decade. Creating excuses is what the Republicans did for four years. They no longer have any excuses. They own this motherfucker and they have to accept responsibility for it top to bottom now.

Back to your regular DU experience.

1. They Never Had Any Excuses Before, Either
They had the media, the Supreme Court, the House, the Senate, and the Executive branch. Plus a ton of the state governments as well.

STILL nothing was their fault.

Why expect that to change now?

3. Americans in general have no excuses left.
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:47 AM by Kagemusha
The US now has the president it deserves with a mandate retroactive to '00 and effective to '08. Next stop is Fallujah. All aboard!

Later destinations: US Supreme Court, the expected attempt to destroy Edwards so that Hillary can run in '08, and a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

4. No we did NOT. We have built a great coalition of kick ass Americans.
Don't internalize what needs to be EXTERNALIZED!!

Now we need to let other people on this planet know that WE ARE THE MAJORITY and we as true blue citizens will take this country back.

5. You think they'll EVER stop projecting, blaming others, creating false
realities with their Totalitarian Sub-Media?

Damn, did the Nazis stop blaming the Jews once they "owned the whole thing?"

Did Stalin stop blaming Trotsky?

No, as they gain MORE control, particularly the infromation apparatus, it will get WORSE.

People think it can't get any worse than it was before? Laughable. Things are about to get MUCH worse!

7. Trial Lawyers
That is the target. Once the lawyers are gone, they have total, unchecked control. Please support your local trial lawyers. If there are anti-trial lawyer reports in local media, please write LTTE's.

Thanks!!!

13. Don't like 'em, don't read 'em
Sorry, I'm laying out the reality of the situation as I see it.

We should allow the GOP to run nearly unchecked for at least one year. We MUST choose filibusters extremely cautiously for the next year. Replacing the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS isn't one of them. You're replacing one rightwinger with another.

That's our only hope of making inroads in the Congress in 2006. Let 'em get it so messed up that the electorate sees the mistake and reverses itself in the midterms.

Sorry if the reality screws with you. IF you cannot handle the reality of the situation at this point in time, I suggest you move over to the other GD forum.

I'm concerned about rebuilding, not fucking tinfoilhat excuses like "BBV".

We got our ASSES KICKED! The sooner we accept that fact, the sooner we can start to work on 2006.

28. It is You who is not living in reality
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 12:37 PM by TNOE
it is you who is delusional. The exit polls were wrong, but the electronic machines with no receipt were right. The tens of thousands of young voters who registered because they felt Bush was a warmonger and didn't want to see a draft came out and stood in long lines to vote for him. The previously employed whose job was shipped overseas stood in long lines to vote for the guy that sent them there. Yeah, right.

I'm not going to support this thread anylonger. There is NOTHING to rebuild, the world is going to go to hell now Walt, there will never be another fair election. IT IS YOU WHO DOESN'T GET IT.

10. I disagree
They'll just pass the buck, like they always do. In the meantime, our oh-so-intelligent voters have given these dipshits a mandate to give our country away to large corporations, stack the supreme court with right-wingers, dismantle social security, destroy our environment, and invade countries on false premises. Hell, even if they do take some blame, we still get the raw end of the deal.

11. 51/49 is not a mandate
The population is evenly split between the spiteful and ignorant vs. the aware.

The only asswhipping is in the media. If the media was 51/49, Howard Dean would be our next president.

when you control both houses of the Congress. Also, the fact that he got a majority of the popular vote indicates a mandate.

It was quietly stolen, under the radar, in hard drives in electronic machines where nobody could see the fraud.

"I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the President next year."

- Wally O'Dell, CEO Diebold

John Kerry and John Edwards and - for once - Terry McAulliffe ran a very good campaign. They took the high road while their opponents were spewing mud and hate. They bear no responsibility.

The 51% of Americans who want a theocracy and police state, along with the enablers at Diebold and ES&S, bear the responsibility.

Take names. The 2008 campaign begins today.

22. We got an ass whipping...
but IMO not because the policies of BA are right...not because people believe in BA policies....not because people don't want to change presidents in wartime...not because they are proud of the last 4 years...

but because this administration, its campaign, and the media were willing to lie, distort, cheat, mislead, grab power, and crush enemies to an extent never before anticipated.

I could handle it better if I simply believed that I was in the minority in terms of policy opinion...but I'm pissed today that dishonesty worked as well as it did. Apparently, the steady pounding of blatant lies over the course of three years is a successful campaign strategy.

Enron = Worldcom = Halliburton = US government. No difference

No flu vaccine or more uninsured? Blame the greedy trial lawyers.

Gas prices skyrocket? Blame Democrats for blocking the energy bill & not allowing drilling in ANWR.

Osama hits the US again? Blame Bill Clinton for not taking Osama's head when the Sudan offered it to him.

31. We were out organized and had too many cooks in the soup.
Rove organized the GOTV effort for the R's. We had scattered well meaning grass roots groups who didn't know who was doing what.

They calculated their efforts and won because they were strategic. We fought with our hearts, they fought with their heads.

in a way that they can never be linked.

It was brilliantly devious albeit blatantly illegal. They gambled and won.
