Poll question: OK, why did we lose?
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 10:47 AM by lib4life
Assuming Kerry does ultimately and definitively lose this election (It's looking pretty hopeless, folks), what was Kerry's main weakness?

2. Less than 10% of registered 18-24 year olds voted.
I guess if they're not getting a free concert for their vote, they don't care.

7. God, Guns, and Gays
That's what happened here. Enough people to were just into God enough, just need warm gun happiness enough, just feared homosexuals and box turtles enough that the waters were muddied enough for Rove to send out his ghouls and declare a pre-mature victory.

And you know what? the MSM has decided to believe them and is reporting it as fact. In their reality shaping world, who are we to say otherwise?

I'm so filled with venom today that I could piss acid.

/sarcasm off.

10. Somebody posted earlier
GOD GUNS GAYS. Whith the referendums on the ballots I think it pulled out all the holy rollers, red-necks, and bigots. This country is not at the point of acceptance with gays yet. Hell I don't think we are at acceptance of civil rights yet. I think it was bad timing to push this issue this year. It was way too devisive during an election year. This was the surprise!

The exit polls showed * strong on Terrorism. But he is not so popular with Iraq.

Gay Marriage - JK was identified with forcing Gay Marriage upon middle America.

14. Had to go with moral values.
22% of people in exit polls considered "moral values" a big issue.

Yeah, moral values - like killing 1100 of our soldiers in a fake "war" along with tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians.

Except, of course, that "moral values" is code for "I'm anti-gay and anti-choice and anti-minority."

Argh.

16. What the hell is wrong with you? We haven't lost.
Focus your energy on something more constructive, pls. There will be plenty of time for reflection once the outcome is certain.

In the meantime, keep your demoralizing attitude to yourself.

Remember: No defeat, baby, no surrender.

21. One issue would have turned it around
Guns.

God and gays are the same issue, fundamentalism, and we will never take that issue away from the GOP.

Gun control is the biggest loser issue the Democrats have right now. Had we dumped that single issue, we would've won last night.

25. Emotional Issues....
Many different things. Main problem, lack of education for poor Americans. Democracy is about the elite, the rich and corporate America. Poor people are kept at the lower level, and as the republicans say, they must pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Maybe a couple of families are extended the honor of moving up into middle class, but the fact is that the poor are kept down as part of our system of democracy. Someone has to clean dirty toilets.

If the elites, rich and corporate America own the first wheel of democracy, the media, We the People do not exist. Angry white men have won.

26. Voters confused: Bush flops, Kerry flips. Who knows .. fallback on morals.
People say they voted the moral factor as their main reason. I don't think so.

I think they heard the Swift boat and were not sure of Kerry, they heard the missing bomb material and were disillusioned with Bush,

SO THEY VOTED THE NEXT EASIEST DECISION: MORALS.

RepubliCONS gave us the one-two punch while we only took one swipe. Voters did not hear anything about good Christian values of Democrats, of empowering women, respecting gays, reducing abortions, drugs, and whatever. All they heard was that Kerry went to church.
