My mom and dad
are in heaven and I know they are so sad for us. My mom was a huge proponent of social justice and liberalism and we all followed in her footsteps. I have been helping, from my own pocket, a family near me whose child has cancer. They voted for Bush. Without me, they would have lost their house, and couldn't have gotten to NYC for treatment for their child. Another friend has cancer and her husband just got fired. They voted for Bush. What is wrong with these people? I have made a decision today that I will not assist, or help ANYONE who voted for Bush. Let the neocons help them. Let the rich help them, cause I sure ain't rich. My mom always gave and gave and gave and so have I. If these two families don't need universal health care, who does? I just don't get it. Is abortion that big of a deal? Gay rights? You know, I am 46 years old. I have never had an abortion and don't expect to need one. I am not gay. Why do I care about these things? Why do I put myself through this? I believe in a compassionate Jesus, but I don't force it on people, unlike people who have no trouble telling me that I am going to hell because I am pro-choice. Am I going to hell? I have been up all night, so I am not thinking clearly, but I am just so, so, sad. Sorry for the rant, but I am alone here and I just can't understand this at all. God bless.

3. I stayed up too late too,
but I am litterally sobbing over your post. All I can take from this is ist all in their hands now, no excuses, no blaming us anymore. The are in charge, they are totally responsible.

We will recover. We are still a huge part of this country. 3 or 4 % does NOT make us an insignificant minority. We will have an even bigger mess to clean up in four years, but we will be able to handle it. Hell there is still war crimes and impeachment possibilities if an when folks finally realise what a horrible mistake they have made for the sake of fetal tissue and religion.

5. YOU are the one following Christ's teaching. To reach out and help those
in need. Your first instinct was the right one ... you were right to help that family whose child has cancer ... EVEN IF THEY VOTED FOR BUSH.

Remember that Bush supporters -- that smug, homophobic, bigoted lot -- knows NOTHING about true Christianity. They only know about trying to create an America that ONLY looks like them -- white, holy-roller, smug, self-righteous, bigoted beyond belief.

YOU, on the other hand, are helping those in need -- no matter who they are. YOU have been trying to create an America where EVERYONE is valued, where EVERYONE deserves hope and help.

Think carefully before cutting someone off from your compassion because they've been led down the garden path by the lies of the Bush Administration.

I salute you -- YOU are the bigger person. Kerry may not end up winning the day -- but Democrats like YOU, who work to help people in need, are the TRUE WINNERS every day in this country.

6. God, I hope you are right.
I am just so sad this morning. I have to conduct a training session in an hour and I don't think I can stop crying to do it.

7. Everything you said, I agree with except I don't believe in God, having
said that, I respect people like you who practice what they (don't) preach to the rest of us. As hubby was walking out the door today he tried to cheer me up by reminding me that WE personally will probably make out fine with a * win. He is a warrant officer in the US Army, one of the few sane ones who voted for Kerry, and you know damn well the military industrial complex will make out like fucking bandits. My ex-best friend is a soon to be single mother with a somewhat precarious job but she's a fundamentalist evangelical so she voted for * based on his "moral values". I sincerely question the morality of anyone who voted for * and don't want to speak to them any longer, let alone help any of them.
Please don't anyone blame whole segments for this fiasco, ie., the military, African-American or youth turnout, etc. If you look at the blue states and the red states, alot of them were close. So, look at it as a fundamental problem with a slight (and stupid) majority in this country.
To be sure that your compassion is spent in a good place, I suggest animal charities. That's all I'm giving to any more. The conservative assholes can take care of people.

8. Not a bad idea.
...my little dachshund would be very happy. Personally, we also will do fine financially under *. My husband works for a pharmaceutical company and frankly has a pretty big salary. That being said, we still voted for Kerry because this ain't the only game in town. We disagree on the Supreme Being thing, you and I, but I do believe in an afterlife. We have had a lot of death in my family over the last few years and I don't think I could go on if I didn't think I would ever see those people again. Oh, and yes, we reaped the benefit of the Bush tax cut, which I promptly donated to charity. I would give back every penny to see that every child in this country went to bed with a full stomach.

if they are the real christians, then i don't want to be a part of it. I am going to try like hell to get a job in canada or europe. This place is beyond fucked up, and, seriously, i will shed no tears for anyone who voted for * and dies from poverty, disease, or war.
