because regardless of whatever kind of fraud we deem took place and whether we successfully challenge the result for the presidency...things look bad across the country for Dems.

Losing governorships, losing senate seats, losing house seats.

Same thing happened in 2002. Not so much in 2000. THat one was just an utter and total failure to realize we were being robbed blind by a corrupt Bush family. We should have seen that one coming with Jeb and all that...but we didn't.

Still, back to the main topic. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG with the Democratic party as a national party that can maintain influence.

What do you suggest? TUrn into super liberal leftwingers? Start stealing our own elections? WHAT?

1. I waited three hours in line last night to vote.
And all I could do the whole time was look around me at all the white faces and think, "At least 70% of these people are voting for Bush." Until that changes, there are going to be problems. How that changes, I don't know.

3. Im sorry but I think the machinery is rigged.
Doesnt help though because we're bitchslapped just the same.
It sure isnt going to get fixed now.
I really dont know what to say.

God Bless Amerika i suppose, batten down, rough seas ahead.

One ironic pleasure, Bush has to live with the chaos he has created too and it is not going to be fun.

I truly believe the Antichrist is risen.

6. so what? everyone is forecasting "Dem soul searching"
you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out we need to do such analysis of our party and what it is we stand for and if we as a party can reign in the wildly right-tilting population with ideas and values that trump whatever it is about GOP that gets them all excited.

5. Euthanasia for the Democratic Party?
Time to put the Donkey to sleep? You could make a really good case for it right now: the party simply refuses to fight fire with fire vs. the Pugs. In advertising terms, the brand has too much baggage to be a top seller anymore; in radio language, it's a tuneout. The Donkey is damaged goods.

As to what replaces the party, I don't know yet. But there is more common ground between Liberals and true Conservatives than you'd think at first...

7. no...I don't see a complete overhaul necessary. across the board...
we're still only a few senators short of a majority and a few representatives short of a majority.

I think it is not only in the grand strategy but also in the local tactics that are cohesive across the broad playing field of the whole country.

and I think it comes down to disciplined execution. Dems talked a good game the last 2 times...but were repeatedly stuck with trying to sing along to music provided by GOP. We always let them frame the argument.

We have an "Ideas" gap right now.

8. When legislators and governors signed electronic voting
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 07:20 AM by teryang
...democratic elections were doomed. I said this right after the 2000 election. I recommended a legal strategy and a scientific method to prove it in court and get the necessary permanent injunctions and rulings of unconstitutionality from the courts. The party did nothing. If anything they wholeheartedly supported evoting promoted as remedy, no less, for the electoral fraud that went on in Florida 2000.

This is worse than the ossification and corruption in the English parliament before the electoral reforms of 1832, because it is mired in electronic mumbo jumbo, propriety law bullshit, and corporate obscurantism. The democratic party leadership is incapable of correcting the problem because they are too busy collecting corporate handouts rather than spending the millions to bring the lawsuits that should have brought three years ago to stop BBV.

America your fate is sealed.
