1. yes
it happened in 1976. Undecided actually came in first followed by Jimmy Carter. It is not likely to happen this time though.

4. question
in Iowa..supporters of candidates with less than 15% must vote a gain...in the end...will 100% of delegates be apportioned among those with more than 15% or can people remain undecided??

6. good question, I honestly don't know
If it were up to me I would allow a undecided slate and a certain number of delegates which are uncommitted. It didn't hurt the dems in '76.

2. excellent
The "Unnamed Democrat" polls better against Bush than any actual Democrat.

If Undecided wins, we crush Bush in a landslide.

5. Reminds me
of the candidate who tried to legally change his name to "None of the Above." The judge refused.

But "uncommitted" has a long history in the Iowa caucuses. It's not at all unlikely that 10% or more of the delegates selected Monday night will be unpledged.

From a strategic point of view, Dean captains will probably be instructed that if they fail to reach the 15% level in a given precinct (it will happen, with nearly 2000 meetings) they are to re-caucus with Uncommitted, to avoid helping any of his rivals. On the other hand, the rest of the contenders would be best served by throwing support to each other in such a case, on the theory that the worse Dean does, the better chance for each of them to carry on longer.
