How are some states being called already? Aren't people still in line?

How are some states being called already? Aren't people still in line?
If you got in line around 4 or 5 isn't it possible to be still in line now? Help me understand this process.

1. I think that's why they're not calling VA and SC.
I think the states they've called are comfortable enough leads.

7. look at the percentage of precincts reporting
Sometimes they're "calling" it based on a sample of 1 or 2%.

Most precincts aren't going to report right away. Under Federal law, they can't turn people away who are in line at closing time. They won't report totals until EVERYONE in line has voted and the results have been uploaded or counted or whatever.

8. Yeah... well
If someone is standing in line, and it looks like he/she has 3 or more hours to go... and someone calls that person and tells him/her that Bush has already won the state... What will those voters do?
