2 inches of snow in Republican Lubbock, little wait at the polls
Still snowing hard, the streets are slushy/icy in a place where "weather" other than wind and blowing dirt (and heat) is unusual to say the least. Just about to drive a vanload of seniors to the polls: voting is depressed here to say the least

Thank you God for bad weather.

16. It's snowing in the reddest parts of Texas today, hmmm? A sign, for sure!
Cosmic justice, if you will. Junior grew up in Midland, right? And it's snowing there on the most important day of his life.... ROFL!!!!

It's cool (mid 50s) here so far in Central Texas. Actually quite comfortable for waiting in any lines.

3. Did it snow in Amarillo, too?
I know y'all are more used to snow than we are in the Austin area. Snow here would shut us down completely. Panhandle folks are pretty hardy but I don't know how determined they are to vote in this election. Maybe some of those who were going to hold their noses to vote for Bush* will use bad weather as their excuse to stay home?

6. Its KILLING the turnout in Lubbock
its overwhelmingly Republican and, frankly, they aren't worried the county will go Democratic so there is no incentive for them to struggle out to the polls. My husband called from work and said that his known republican colleagues are saying they probably won't bother because "it doesn't matter here"--so, they are planning to go home because the wait after work is "always too long"

Good, go home you whining losers. Every Democratic voter I know was going out today no matter what---we want a higher popular vote and percentage for the Democratic candidates than were delivered in 2000.

15. Great news! Let the repubs stay home! Texans & snow don't mix, anyway
I'm in Central Texas and on the very few occasions we've gotten snow, you'd think aliens had landed the way these people areound here act. No driving. Barely peeking out their windows at home. :eyes: Only the kids venture outside -- and they have a blast.

I'm not complaining this time, though! Let them stay home!! :toast:

May Lubbock go blue -- and not from the cold! ;)

4. lots of snow and more coming in amarillo
i can see keeping the vote down. the only ones, diehard, those working and the passionate dems. i think it is a good thing since this is the area outrageously favoring republicans and the south and east of texas more liberal and dem votes. where they dont have the snow. so i see a lower turnout for repug, yet the higher turnout for the democratic areas. could be interesting

i.......voted early, wink

about an hour ago. Big traffic backup but mostly folks dropping off kids. Hardly any voters.

8. I'm listening to TSN Radio, and (I'm just over the state line) (m)
I just heard the tail end of a report on TSN saying that the snow may hurt Nuggetbutt more than Stenholm because Nuggetbutt supporters are also Bush supporters who will stay home, cozy, because they don't think Bush really "needs" their vote today. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!!!
GET THOSE DEMOCRATS TO THE POLLS TO VOTE OUT NUGGETBUTT!!

11. That is the thinking at Dem HQ in Lubbock---bye bye Randy!
I hope that Neugebauer is booted only *slightly* less than Bush*.

I cannot stand Neugebauer. What a tool. A stupid tool.

14. What do things really look like in this race? Toss up? (n)
Some farmer friends of mine in E NM and W TX who support Stenholm are positively HEARTSICK today over this race, because the media makes it sound like Nuggetbutt has it wrapped up.

10. Just a little manifestation of the snow job bush has been dumping on us
for the last 4 years.

Let's see, Repubs can't handle a little snow, they can't exercise fiscal responsibility, they can't join and fight but they can talk about it, and they can't recognize the truth even if it walks up and hits them up the side of the head with a 2-by-4.

So, just exactly what are Repubs good for, eh?
