MALZBERG OUT: WABC (770 AM) weekend and overnight host Steve Malzberg has resigned, the station said yesterday.

Malzberg said he is moving to another city station that he will announce Friday. Unofficial speculation centers on WMCA (570 AM, 970 AM).

"We wish Steve nothing but the best," said WABC program director Phil Boyce. "He's been here 23 years and done some great things for us."

He will be replaced overnights by "Coast to Coast With George Noory." Boyce said he is "considering several options" for Sunday morning.

for those not in nyc, this is about the slimiest experience you can have listening to talk radio. he makes me embarassed to be jewish.

did he really finally get shitcanned by "program director promise keeper cryptofascist Phil Boyce?" Problem is they are always dropping malzy and then some cabal of likudniks in brooklyn complains and he ends up back on the air at 4 AM on sunday for 5 months until they think it's safe to wheel him out again for a few sub slots and then BOOM all of a sudden he's doing drive time until he says something else so offensive he has to be put on ice.

he's like a monster that won't die in a horror movie.

he likes to schtick about being in "a cave" during the clinton presidency, inviting all his nazi listeners to join him there. funny how that lost its punch after Osama.

i've always been amused at his efforts to reconcile his hardline pro-Israel shit with his love of the extreme right, including the anti-semitic extreme right. a lot of major contradiction there. i used to call him pretending to be a stockbroker because his knowledge of economics and markets is especially poor, but he constantly tries to act like he is an expert on reading them politically. it was so easy to infuriate him with simple facts. he'd end up screaming at me and forgetting he even had the power to hang up on me. he was a totally unprofessional radio guy who let his emotions get in the way of his schtick a lot of the time. which is why he was constantly in trouble for some racist statement or other.

god, he's one i wish would just die.

9. i forgot to mention

back when he had his own (truly ugly and badly designed) website, with some total amateur as webmaster, he briefly left his comment board wide open. normally, i oppose this kind of tactic, but malzy disgusted me so much that i couldn't help it.

i posted the entire text of Melville's *Moby Dick* over the course of four days. his webmaster was going crazy not even knowing how to stop me.

it completely shut him down.

this was during the 2000 election chaos.
