Please Indulge My Strange Superstition

A group of women I know have this tradition of eating chocolate ("making a sacrifice to the chocolate god") when we have a problem or situation that could use a little extra help. By this we mean, please eat some chocolate & say a prayer, light a candle, wish on a shooting star, throw a penny in the well, think positive
thoughts...whatever it is you do to bring good luck. We've been doing this for several years for job interviews, home closings, surgeries, big tests...and so far we've had 100% success! :smoke:

So please make good use of that leftover Halloween candy & make a sacrifice to the chocolate god for a big Kerry win! :loveya:

1. Well, I've done part of it.
I lit a candle inside my Vomiting Jack-O-Lantern, then ate a bunch of chocolate because there weren't a lot of trick-or-treaters, which meant I had to start eating the leftover Snickers bars. so they wouldn't get stale, and also the cats would get into them and cats shouldn't eat chocolate, so of course I had to eat them. If I eat even more chocolate will there be more good luck?

3. When I was pushing candy on everyone at the Kerry meetup on Thursday...
I told them to eat 1 for a win & 2 for a landslide. I had no problem getting rid of 3 bags of chocolate bars so Bush may as well give his concession speech right now. :)

8. Tootsie Rolls count?
I'm not telling how many I ate. We didn't have as many trick-or-treaters as normal either. But just for you, I will force myself to eat one more....

14. Bring extra candy to the polls to pass around
Hand out bottled water and food. Don't want people to get discouraged and go home!

16. This worked for me with the Red Sox. Maybe it'll work for Kerry too!
The first three games of the ALCS against the Yankees, I had my wife put my son to bed during the game. The Red Sox were defeated in all three games.

By the time the desperation of Game 4 arrived, I needed a mental health break. So, around the 2nd inning, I hit "pause" on the TiVo, took my son upstairs, and gave him the usual bedtime routine (change into PJs, brush teeth, read stories, tuck-in). The whole thing took about 20 minutes, and the whole time, the rest of the world was watching the game live.

I came downstairs and watched the next two innings on "tape delay" until I could fast-forward through enough commercials to catch up with live action.

The Red Sox came from behind to win in 12 innings.

From that night forward, I was convinced that the universe was telling me to keep my priorities straight; spending time with my son was far more important than watching every single pitch live, as-it-happened. So, I started a new ritual.

Each night, around 8:15'ish, I would pause the game (sometimes this was even before the first pitch) and take my time tucking my son into bed.

The Red Sox never lost another game.

Needless to say, tomorrow night, around 8:15pm, I'm going to tear myself away from the election coverage, take my son upstairs, read him his bedtime stories, and kiss him goodnight.

-MR

like some kind of chocolate whore for about a month. I'm going to need to seriously detox after this election, nothing but veggies and beans and rice and shit for a month.

19. No trick or treaters
at my house. We live on a hill and there are no kids on our block. :-(

So I have a 5 pound bag of chocolate goodies I bought at Costco. I'll help with the cause and will light candles and think positive. :loveya:

20. I have a little superstition as well.
Whenever I really, really need something to happen, I write down the desire. Then I copy and paste it 1000 times and print it out, very small, on a sheet of paper. I fold up the sheet of paper and carry it close to my heart until my wish comes true. I only use this when it's really, REALLY important and so far it's worked every time. I also am wearing my "Women for Kerry/Edwards" dogtag necklace 24/7 until inauguration day.

I am also happy to volunteer on the chocolate front.

22. Excellent, just what I needed!
An excuse to scarf the rest of the chocolate in the house, motivation to drag myself off DU and get my butt to the post office, get a little something done today, make some phone calls to voters. And a Kerry Landslide too?? How can it get better? :)
