Poll Graphic on Front of CNN.com
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 09:54 PM by quam

I thought this graphic on the front of cnn.com interesting.

Does Bush's percentage before 49% state 59%? If so, is there much difference on the line graph between 49% and 59% for Bush? Is there more of a difference between Kerry's 44% and 47%? Should there not be more of a spread, visually, for 10% than 3%?

Help. How is my vision?

4. You are RIGHT !! Look at the 1% nader at the bottom . . .
It appears each color block is 5%. Bush should have dropped 2 colored blocks, not a fraction. Write CNN.

8. 52%
Was the CNN/Gallup poll of 10/24.

It's certainly a crummy graph. Looks like a horizontal line between the last two points on the Bush graph even though he went down 3 points, whereas Kerry's 3-point rise is represented.

9. Oh, I figured it out
It's a perspective thing. Look at Nader. He has one percent all the way through, but his line is going down a little bit. The graph isn't two dimensional--it's like its written on the side of a block and one edge of the block is facing away a little bit. It skews the way the lines look.

10. New Graph Posted - Did >We< Make a Difference?
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 11:07 PM by quam

Looks like a correction was made by CNN.com, someone must have noticed. The lines appear to be more to scale and Bush's 59% modified to 52%.

That is a bit more accurate to me, what do you think?
