My school prohibits it too. However, my "Veteran for Kerry/Edwards" bumper sticker does make it into the parking lot.

But you need look no further than our parking lot where stickers range from the rude (Bush Is A Punk Ass Chump - that would be mine ;) ) to the tasteful (small sticker with 'W' in a circle with the line through it) to the obvious Kerry/Edwards.

Hatch Act prevents it.

My boss was in my office telling how she explained to her daughter why she was voting for *. If * took 25% of your allowance for taxes and Kerry took 50%, who would you vote for?

It was almost enough for me to ignore the Hatch Act and go after her, instead I just said, "That's not a true representation of the candidates' positions, but we are not supposed to talk about politics, so can you answer this work-related question instead?....."

How stupid are these people?

22. Don't ya hate that ...

One of my supervisors made a point of letting everyone know what the rules were regarding pushing a political candidate at work, which was fine in and of itself. It is work, and I don't mind not being allowed to push Kerry if it means I don't have to listen to the Repukes who work with me try to do the same.

But, increasingly over the last couple weeks, that same supervisor keeps making snide comments about Kerry during breaks. She tried to draw me into a conversation on Friday, and I finally just told her we were not supposed to discuss politics at work and walked away.

Irritating.

Anyway, Welcome to DU!!! :hi:

25. I'll be doing Election Protection training, not sure if I can
I know I can't wear any pins or anything on Tuesday, but I forgot to ask wear anything for training. I'll probably wear pins only, so I can take them off if it's not allowed.

Btw, hate to say it, but I can't stand that Women for Kerry picture. I know it's from WWII, Rosie the Riveter and all that, but it just looks mean to me, and I don't have muscles. I understand how others think it's cool, so I'm not putting it down or people who like it, it just doesn't do it for me.

Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 11:38 PM by hlthe2b
but it is an empowered woman thing and I truly believe women and youth may be what pulls Kerry through...I think it has been sort of co-opted by the lesbian community (and I'm not), but I still like the sentiment, so I don't really care if some misinterpret. Have you ever seen interviews from women who were the original "rosies" of the 40's? They weren't at all big and tough, nor muscular (nor am I)-- just determined and capable.

Tuesday I will wear a different GOTV t-shirt along with the KE accessories. In fact, I haven't taken the necklace off, nor will I until Kerry is inaugurated. My little superstition.

44. Yeah, I'm always dripping with Kerry gear. It starts conversations,
and then I can ask the person next to me at the salad bar if they're going to vote and can the Dems county on their vote, etc. In my ultra-conservative county, it lets Democrats know they don't have to hide in the darkness any longer.

Today, as I did a literature drop in a small ultra-conservative town in my ultra-conservative PA county, I got booed from a passing car because I was wearing the T-shirt and holding a pen and stack of papers (obviously campaigning).

The more they boo the prouder I am to be a Democrat (and they've booed a lot -- our local Demo. group was loudly booed throughout three county-fair-type parades in this fascist place.)

I was obviously brought up better than they were. I'd never boo at them, steal their signs, whatever.

50. IN TEXAS IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO WEAR A CAMPAIGN SHIRT
I'm an election judge and was instructed to tell people to cover their shirts (with a piece of paper, if necessary) if those shirts have a candidate's name. The law states that you can't have campaign material within 100 feet of a polling place.

54. I work for a non-profit
It receives federal funds and we're not permitted to be overtly political. Of course, every person who works there and most of our clients will be voting Kerry, so it's moot. Our bumper stickers go with us wherever we go, though, and my "complete sentences" button is on my handbag in case I stop at a store on the way home.
