Much goings on on the news, about the troops gathering, some interviews. They in/around Fallujah. The Brits moved in add'l troops a couple of weeks ago, I think.

So is this the big shabang that's gonna help Bush? A big Rambo movement with lots of fire power and little independent news coverage? I wouldn't think that would help.

Anyone know the latest on this? I thought the activity was supposed to be this weekend, but the weekend is almost over.

(edited to correct spelling)

1. All Iraq news is heard as bad news, so they're welcome to try

There's no upside... Hooray! We bombed somebody's house. Or else Hooray, some of our guys got blown up!

Capturing Zarkawi is not going to happen on short notice.

2. No, won't help at all.
Bloody battle, soldiers in harm's way, civilian casualties.

Mission NOT accomplished.

3. October suprise will be a photo released...
a photo will be leaked showing * with an enormous engorged erection, proving once and for all that he's the "biggest man."

Of course, it will have been Photoshopped...

7. I can believe it. More deaths on all sides to make Junior look 'good.'
:eyes: The only people who would be impressed by this are Junior's devoted, anyway. Morans, all. :freak:

8. Here's a crazy idea that Rove might just be desperate enough to try...
...What if Osama Bin Laden (or at least the actor who played him in that last video) were captured in Fallujah?

Bush not only would take credit for capturing Bin Laden, but also for establishing a definite link between Bin Laden and Iraq, which he would then claim existed all along.

Instant vindication for the Iraq invasion - at least in the minds of the Sheeple.

Sounds far fetched, but then so does about 75% of what they HAVE gotten away with since 12/12/2000 :(

9. Would only convince the already-convinced.
The rest of us would find the timing incredibly suspicious.

10. The photo of the kidnapped UN worker
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 05:04 PM by larissa
from Ireland is so sad! She's so young and was only there trying to do good things :-(

http://www.breakingnews.ie/2004/10/31/story173679.html

I can't imagine the Bush Administration coming out with significant good news within the next 48 hours, but then again.. look at who we're talking about. Anything can happen.

edit ~ I should have noted this kidnapping was Afghanistan.. Still.. I can't imagine breaking news out of Iraq could effect the way voters feel about what is happening THERE.

11. Geez
bush et al seem to be the masters of Too Little, Too Late.

Hello, idiots???? Most of this country already thinks Iraq is a freaking mess. And they would be correct.

You bombing the shit out of part of it even MORE isn't going to change your defeat on Tuesday.

This reminds me of his recent flop sweat smelling efforts to get Dems to vote for him (first time I've even heard him refer to us in all this time) and his weird agreeing with civil unions deal (WTF was THAT about???).

Day late and a dollar short there faux cowboy.

12. Yes, the prime ministers just gave a 'final warning' to insurgents
to get out or 'face consequences'...so yeah...I think they are going to do a massive strike on Fallujah tomorrow to supposedly remind us that * is strong and resolute or whatever...people wont pay attention though...a term will come to many minds if that happens...'wag the dog' I believe is the phrase...lol

13. Victory helps Bush. Mere fighting does not. So offense now is too late.
