Another fine mess

In addition to all the other messes and disasters that have occured under Bush's watch, let's not forget to add to the list another gigantic debacle going on right now. The November 2 election and its ugly aftermath is happening under the BA administration.

After the 2000 vote, when it became apparent that there were serious flaws in our registration and voting processes, a real president interested would have demanded proper legislation and state action to avert potentially more extensive problems in 2004.

Nada.

2. Yes, HAVA is a bust.

The numerous problems we're seeing already mean it's time to revisit the electoral process.

I'd like to see a county-by-county movement to paper ballots. And we've got to do something about vote suppression, once and for all.
