Stop Cruelty to Medical Marijuana Patients - my email to WI Naderites
I sent this email to all 92 members of the Yahoo WI-Nader forum. I had to do something. Feel free to send it to Naderites.

Stop Cruelty to Medical Marijuana Patients

I am an authorized medical marijuana user in the state of Washington. I use marijuana to control my seizures and to reduce the pain of my Central Pain Syndrome (google it for info). I am 52 years old and disabled.

In Washington I had legal access to marijuana through the Green Cross Patient Co-op. I have recently moved to Wisconsin and am now a criminal for using my medicine.

I am a life-long left-wing activist since my father took me to civil rights marches in the early 60's. In college I worked my ass off against the Vietnam War in the Student Mobilization Committee. I have worked with Amnesty International, picketed gun shops, marched against the Iraq War before it started, worked phones for progressive candidates. I know the great feeling of working for a righteous cause.

I am now a medical marijuana activist. I am a member of Wisconsin's med mj activism group Is My Medicine Legal Yet? This email is my activism for today.

Bush's DEA has raided medical marijuana co-ops, arrested patients, and suppressed free speech in support of med mj. Sick people are being tortured by Bush's cruelty.

My friends at Green Cross suffer from wasting from AIDS or cancer chemo, MS, epilepsy, glaucoma... Most are too ill to put their bodies on the line for the cause.

I was planning to come to Madison and campaign for a few days, but my pain has become too severe to make the trip, hold a sign, or pass out leaflets. I planned to attend Nader rallies, meetings, and sit beside the Nader campaign tables and work for real change for medical marijuana patients.

I planned to hold a sign that read "A Vote for Nader is a Vote to Send me to Jail".

John Kerry has pledged to stop DEA raids. He supports the rights of states to pass medical marijuana laws. He has pledged to break the stifling of real research on medical marijuana.

Wisconsin is a crucial state in this election. If Kerry loses my life will be significantly worse and innocent people will suffer and die. Your vote could mean the difference.

It's math. Every vote for Kerry increases the chance that my life will be better. If Kerry is president I can focus on living with my illness without worrying about legal hell.

When you stand in the poll booth on election day I ask you to think of me and my very sick friends. Help us, please. Vote for John Kerry for real medical marijuana reform.

I know Ralph Nader supports medical marijuana but that doesn't help medical marijuana patients at all.

Thank you for reading this,

I can't sign this because of Bush's cruel reign

I'll post replies from them.

1. Alaska is one of the 3 states voting on this Tuesday~

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/2004-10-28-marijuana-ballots_x.htm

The group that was able to get it on the ballot has raised $854,813 so far, and have been running excellent commercials here.

The USA Today article says the initiative is down by 8 points, but I haven't seen any polls at all here asking about it. Dunno where they got their numbers.

It's already legal in Alaska to possess up to 4 ounces, but this initiative seems to be a very important issue to the patients who depend on medical marijuana. I know that my own doctor is hoping that the law is voted in.. he says that his patients benefit greatly if it does.

Here's the last Anchorage article I could find on the November 2 vote ~ http://www.ktuu.com/CMS/anmviewer.asp?a=4954

2. I donated to support Alaska initiative
The Marijuana Policy Project (www.mpp.org) is doing some great work there.
