No way I should be up right now.. :hangover: If I had turned back my clock like a good girl, it would be 4:55 a.m. here right now.
I was too curious though who the Anchorage Daily News would endorse for U.S. Senate and woke up @ 3:am. I figured for sure they'd endorse Bush for President (being an oil state) so I was specifically looking to who they would endorse for U.S. Senate (D- Knowles or R- Murkowski)
THEY ENDORSED KERRY FOR PRESIDENT and TONY KNOWLES FOR U.S. SENATE!! :bounce:
Anchorage Daily News requires a quick registration (I think?) but here's a few snippits from:
http://www.adn.com/opinion/ ~ I had to pull up the paper on-line because my paper boy is late as always! (These endorsements will be in TODAY's Anchorage paper though)
Under the Kerry endorsement a couple lines about Bush:
< snip > The man who ran for president as "a uniter, not a divider" has governed exactly opposite and left the country weaker than he found it -- overstretched and disrespected abroad and polarized and antagonized at home. The man who lost the popular vote and won only an ambiguous Electoral College victory governed as though he'd been given a landslide mandate. < snip >
< snip > Alaskans do not face an easy choice in this race for president. "We, the people," in this case, means something broader than self-interest. With some misgivings, we are constrained to choose Sen. Kerry -- for the good of the nation and the world.
BOTTOM LINE: In a referendum on the performance of George Bush, choose John Kerry for president.
< snip >
~~ And for Tony Knowles ~~
< snip > Sen. Murkowski hasn't appeared to be quite so independent, having apparently turned to the right on issues like tax cuts and abortion. It's hard to tell if her loyalty to President Bush is born of conviction or political necessity. < snip >
< snip > Tony Knowles has staked out more clearly where he stands on the issues, both state and national, that matter to Alaskans. Those stands are consistent with a lifetime of public service to Alaska. Alaskans should send him to continue and broaden that service in the United States Senate.
BOTTOM LINE: It's razor close, but Tony Knowles is the better of two good candidates. < snip >
(Per the rules here.. I had to leave out MOST of what the endorsements said.. but KUDOS to the Anchorage Daily News on selecting the two right candidates!!!) :toast:
